2006 zephyr. Brake lights don't work and car will not go into gear. We checked the battery and it was falling apart. We changed battery. We changed fuse 21 and the fuse immediately blew. Any one know what's going on?
Your brake light switch is eith stuck or gone bad. It is located on the brake pedal and you can try to jiggle it to see if it will free itself and turn the lights off or you will need to replace it. It's a pretty easy job and relatively inexpensive. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

check the ground in the fuse link also take out the rear tail light lens and make sure you don't have a broken or damage wire on the socket itself

OK try this, push and hold brake then push on the hazard switch if brake lights come on then replace the turn signal switch.
The rear brake lamp is a whole module. Get the whole unit for left and right no after market one the pins are not always correct

I just fixed my daughters car with the same problems. I found some ***** had ininstalled the tail/brake light bulb incorrectly, (that had to be hard) and the two contacts over time had started to make contact blowing the tail and stop light fuses.
