Could very well be the case, if the oil passages
were clogged, from lack of oil changes in the past,
or the wrong oil,or some problem common to those
type cylinder heads

SOURCE: I think my power steering pump has seized, the

Make sure the engine is cold

Take the belt off (if it not already off already)

Turn it in both directions.

Power steering AND/OR power steering rack can fail.

I will check for leaks on the rack first.

A bad/failing rack can dislodge metal partials.

The pump circulate these metals and jam the pump.

Please do not rule out the rack.

When you change the pump....make sure you blow out the rack and check for metal partials.

Replace all drive belts

The number on the back of the belts will tell you how long the belt is when you get new ones. You'll have to loosen the alternator bolts for one, the power steering pump for another and the AC compressor for the other one.

What size bolts hold the crankshaft pulley on a 2006 Kia Sorento?

I want you to go to this url, it's the official KIA forum dealing with older Sorentos.https://www.kia-forums.com/2003-2010-sorento-forum/53820-sorento-crank-bolt.html It's free to create a login.
It details the need to replace the crank pulley bolt with a new one supplied by KIA. This bolt, if reused, can break causing a catastrophic engine failure. Do not buy any other bolt., it's not worth trying to save a few pennies.I have a 2005 Sorento and had my local KIA dealer do this job and other work as long as the front cover is off, replace the water pump, the timing belt idlers and tensioner assembly. It's cheaper to d all that at one time than to go back and have to redo the cover removal. Hope this helps.

How much to change timing belt on kia sorento 2006

This all depends on what engine you have and also if you are going to just do the belt.
this car , if you have a 100,000 miles or close you should do the job right, right meaning replace the timing belt ,water pump and timing belt pulleys and tensioner, this could run about $1200.00.

the same job with the smaller engine could be $800.00

if you just do the belt alone which is not the right way but can be done then it may cost about $500.00 -$600.00
