SOURCE: 95 Pathfinder Fuel Pump

In the rear cargo area you pull the back plastic strip that runs around where your hatch latches and pull the carpet FROM the rear right to the front left of the cargo area until you see the round/square panel with 4 10mm bolts.  That is the cover that you remove to get to your pump without having to pull your gas tank.  be sure to label your fuel lines.

SOURCE: replacing fuel pump on an 05 nissan pathfinder

No special tools required. You first need to remove as much fuel as possible so the tank is not too heavy. Chock the wheels, put tranny in N, remove driveshaft making sure to mark both mating surfaces at rear diff so you put it back on exactly how it came off. Disconnect the filler hose at the tank. Next thing is to lower the tank about 4-5 inches so you can disconnect the electrical connector and hoses to the fuel pump at the top of the tank. I placed a floor jack with a 2' x 1' piece of plywood under the tank, removed the support straps, and lowered the tank enough so I could reach up and disconnect the electrical connector and fuel line hoses from the pump. Once I got everything unhooked I lowered the tank and slid it out from under the vehicle. Replacing the pump is far easier than getting the tank out. There is a locking ring you have to turn remove. Tap is with a wood block or brass punch so as to not cause any sparks. Once it is off, remove the pump and replace. If you are replacing the pump you should replace the fuel sending unit also since these things have a reputation for going bad at 60,000 miles. Installation is the reverse order.

I have a 1991 Nisson Pathfinder that will turn over but will not fire. If you spray starter fluid in air filter intake, it will fire just long enough to burn the starter fluid.Whats wrong?

Well you are replacing the normal fuel source, so obviously the engine is not getting fuel thru the injectors.
So, have you checked fuel pressure with a gauge ? Do you know for sure the pump is running ?

Hi I am working on a 1991 nissan pathfinder and it is not getting any gas. I put a new fuel pump and a new fuel filter and changed the fuel pump relay, But still no gas. you can hear the pump kick on. and...

Disconnect ( or at least loosen) the fuel line as close to the engine fuel delivery system as you can and see if there is fuel pressure. You may have a vapour lock. If you do get pressure how much ? Is it sufficient to supply your requirements. A "new fuel pump" does not always mean a "good fuel pump" - from experience!!! If you do not have fuel at the engine work back to each fuel line connection to were there is fuel pressure if at all. I am not a Nissan expert but the principles are the same for all. You do not say if it is fuel injected or carburated. FI requires higher pressures than carbs. Hope this helps. Let me know how you do in your efforts. Thanks Good luck.

1991 Nissan PathFinder will not start. The battery is fully charged.

Check for spark. Pull a plug and ground it DO NOT HOLD IT WITH YOUR HAND. Then have someone turn the motor over as you watch.

Assuming that's good, check the fuel system. It could be a clogged filter, a stuck (float bowl) needle valve in the carburetor, bad fuel pump, or water in the tank/carb.
