My 1994 chevy caprice will start up and then it

My 1994 chevy caprice will start up and then it shuts down after five seconds or if you press the throttle. I've replaced the ignition but still no change.

You have to have the key coded with the ignition switch at a lock smith,or the dealer.

Check your throttle position sensor, sounds like its going bad. Simple test to check voltage. Before you do confirm your engine has proper fuel pressure.

Follow this procedure to reset the GM Oil Life System using the DE 100 Series Radio. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON and the radio off. Press and hold the DISP button on the radio for at least five seconds until SETTINGS is displayed. Press the SEEK up or down arrow to scroll through the main menu. Scroll until OIL LIFE appears on the display. Press the PREV or NEXT button to enter the submenu. RESET will be displayed. Press the DISP button to reset. A chime will be heard to verify the new setting and DONE will be displayed for one second. Once the message has been reset, scroll until EXIT appears on the display. Press the DISP button to exit programming. A chime will be heard to exit programming. A chime will be heard to verify the exit.

the 1993 chevy caprice had a 5.7 engine with distributor in which you need to adjust ignition timing with a timing light.the 1994 - 1996 vechicle timing controlled by pcm, your problem does sound like timing off.

My 1994 chevy caprice classic wont start

Put the key in turn it on don't start it wait 10mins turn the key off remove it waits 10 seconds repeat this 3 times this should help if not try this with another key if it still don't work your ignition switch ifs probably bad dealer must replace and reprogram new keys. I got this info from the emission wiz it helped me on 2 different cars

How do I turn off the change oil light on a 1994 corvette

1. Turn the key to “Run,” but don’t start
2. Press “ENG MET” on the Trip
the engine.
Monitor. Then, within five seconds,
press it again.
3. Within five seconds, press and hold
“GAUGES” on the Trip Monitor. The
“CHANGE OIL” light should flash.
4. Hold the “GAUGES” button until the
“CHANGE OIL” light stops flashing
and goes out. This should take about
ten seconds.
When the light goes out, the monitoirs
reset. If the monitor doesn’tr eset, turn the
ignition off, then try again.
