How to fix if cd function does not display?

The CD function would not display when I skipped a playing CD when driving. It keeps saying "reading CD" and never play....Other audio systems are still working properly. Thank you.

SOURCE: toyota avalon csx 2000 cd player

I had the same problem. It is probably the laser reader for the CD player. I took it in to the dealer and was referred to a vender as the warranty had expired. I took it the vender 10 days ago and just had it re-installed today. Works well. BTW, the dealer took it out and send it to another company which repaired it and sent it back.

SOURCE: CD changer problem disable play or reject CD function

I had the same problem with my Toyota Camry LE 07 with 6 CD -changer JBL Bluetooth. Player didn't load or eject any CD, however everything else was working. I checked the warranty for my stereo and found that it has only 36K miles or three years warranty.
First I tried my own research how to fix that problem on internet and then stereo shops. Finally, I went to one of the stereo shop and asked him to check what is wrong, and it going to cost me $45 and not guaranteed anything will be fixed.
People like me who does not know anything about car electronics should avoid opening radio and stereo by them self it requires little skill to open if you don't want to break things.
Anyhow, this guy open the whole system and found that a bad CD label on top of it stuck and broke the part of CD changer. He did not if that can be fixed or it might coast at least $600.
Result, I bought the iPOD and hooked up with AUX.
You may buy extended warranty, which could have been help.

Cd player in 2013 kia optima stopped working

This happened to me with my 2013 Kia Optima SX Turbo with the Microsoft UVO audio system. The CD continued to skip due to several scratches and the system finally gave up and would no longer read any CDs. So I selected System Factory Default from the setup menu screen and that rebooted the UVO computer and realigned the CD laser lens. Keep in mind by rebooting the UVO computer you will lose any previously stored information, but your CD player should be functional again.

Hyundai i30 cd player

hi Squeakylyssa .This goes for all cd players.
If a CD is skipping, first ensure that the disc is working properly by checking to see if it plays on another device. If so, you'll have to uncover the problem in your CD player. Some common problems include: broken parts in the device, physical damage to the CD player, dirt within the player or, most commonly, damage to the lens.
Before you do anything with the CD player, it is important to remove the batteries and disconnect the device from any power source. Wait half an hour before you begin cleaning the device.
Use a lens cleaner to clean your CD player's lens properly. Unscrew the top cover of the player and locate the laser lens, which is located just adjacent to the central disc drive. Place a small amount of your cleansing solution on a cotton swab or other applicator that came with a lens cleaning kit; as an alternative to lens cleaner, you can also use isopropyl alcohol. Rub the cotton swab in very light and small circles against the lens until it is clear. Allow the lens to dry, and then proceed to test the CD player. If the CD player is still skipping after the lens has been cleaned, there is likely a hardware problem that needs to be solved.

A CD player has a few hardware components that may be causing your discs to skip. Unscrew and open the case of the CD player to locate the read head and potentiometer. Depending on the type of device you have, you may need to remove the bottom cover to gain access to the soldered side of the electronics board - if so, you will need to remove the whole board before you can proceed. In single-play designs, you should be able to find 3 or 4 screws that need to be removed to enable you to take out the whole optical deck. There may also be a grounding contact under the deck held in with one screw. Make sure you replace this exactly as you found it.
If your player spins for some time without finding the list of tracks and keeps returning some kind of error message once you place a CD in the player, there is a most likely a problem with the read head. The read head is represented by a small square piece that has a plastic disc sitting on top of it. Using a flathead screwdriver, adjust the plastic disc to realign the read head. This process requires you to plug in the device and hit play and stop until these adjustments fix the CD player. Make sure to put the case back on the CD player each time you test it to avoid any electrical shocks.
The potentiometer, which is positioned directly above the laser, may also be misaligned. Usually this is represented by a small square piece that has a plastic disk on top. The disk has a slot adjustable using a small flat head screwdriver. Before making any adjustments, mark the current position of the potentiometer using an indelible marker pen so that it can be returned to its initial position if need arises. You will need to gently adjust the potentiometer and locate the position where the CD player recognizes the disk again and plays it without skipping. Since this is more of a trial and error process, small rotations of plus/minus 30 degrees of rotation are usually recommendable. For safety, put the case back on the CD player each time you test. If you are happy with the performance after the adjustment then put the case back on and you are ready to rock.

When CD ERROR shows on the player display, there is a problem with the CD mechanism. It will have to be sent out or taken to a repair shop to have it fixed.

My 1997 chevy malibu's factory radio/cd player says error whenever I try to play a cd,what can I do about this and how can I fix it?

is the CD one that you made yourself or is it store bought? Have you tried other CD's?

If the error message is displayed when other CD'd are tried as well than there is a problem with the CD player. You can try using a CD player cleaning kit. Its possible that the laser head is dirty.

There are two other options if cleaning does not work.
1. you can pull the stereo and send it in for repair or replace it.

2. you can install an aftermarket stereo (usually cheaper)

My radio/CD player constantly says "ERR" and CD's won't play anymore. It doesn't show the time or the radio station either, just "ERR". I can hear it, like it's trying...

HI lisasmith566 IT is not a fuse problem .
the problem is your the CD part of the radio
must likely the cd is stock or more likely the cd drive motor is defective .
FIRST try pushing eject on radio and see CD comes out if not you need a new radio .

I have a 97 Buick Regal and I get a E20 error message:cd player

It's just an error message. It stands for Error 20. There is no way to fix the problem. It only reads cd's that it wants. But if it does play a cd, then suddenly stops, and says E20 and spits the cd out, it's most likely because the cd player got too hot. My car does that all the time. And it won't play a lot of burned cd's. Hope this helped.
