Question moved from MISC to Toyota Camry.

After replacing the sensors, the code needs to be cleared with a scan tool.

What Does the P0038 Code Mean? Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0038 stands for "HO2S Heater Control Circuit High (Bank 1 Sensor 2)". Oxygen sensors evaluate the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas and send their readings to the powertrain control module (PCM).Oct 15, 2021

Its not a P0300 it's P0032 and P0038

code p0032refers to heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) 1 bank 1-heater control--circuit high===causes --wiring short to positive--HO2S sensor--ECM
code p0038 refers to heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) 2 bank1 heater control --circuit high===causes --wiring shorted to positive --HO2S---ECM
It is most important that when installing /removing the sensor that the correct tool is used to prevent damage to the wiring for the sensors. Severely twisting the wires during installation/ removal will result in the causes for failure listed.

Mine is a P 0032 and P 0038

upstream and downstream oxygen sensor heater voltages are too high, possible causes are
- bad o2 sensors
- shorted o2 wiring
- bad pcm
clear codes and determine if codes are hard(current)
if they are, unplug sensors, clear codes and re-scan to see if p0032 and p0038 appear.(there will be 2 to 4 other codes generated)if p0032 and p0038 are gone from the list, change both o2 sensors.
if p0032 and p0038 are still in the list, it is either wiring or pcm issue, use a meter to check for short from o2 connector to ground, with pcm unplugged..
Good luck, Rob

Slow start 2004 dodge dakota v8

P0038 typically indicates O2 sensor failure or possible grounding out if the cabling to it has failed. Start with that as it is easier to replace than all the plugs/coils etc. Reset the code and cross your fingers.
