My 94 Astro (v-6 vortec) hesitates when accellerating. If accellerator is slowly pushed, no problem. The quicker you do, the more severe the initial hesitation. If the motor doesn't stall it will "catch up" and run just fine afterword. I've replaced wires, plugs, cap, rotor, and MAP sensor with no difference in hesitation. Whether it's hot, warm, or cold it still does it.
My 1996 Astro does the same thing... It has new fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, maf sensor, ignition coil, alt., battery, cat converter, im stumped...
Have you replaced the fuel filter lately? It should be replaced every 10,000 miles or so. Located drivers side on frame half way back. Good Luck!
Check the egr valve for carbon deposits its probable that the egr valve isnt opening up all the way and when you accelerate the load you have on the engine is to much for the egr to handle
