Question about 2001 Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

2001 Jeep Cherokee car starts fine, rides fine all for about 30

Car starts fine, rides fine all for about 30 minutes after 30 minutes, starts to make a funny sound coming from under the hood sounds louder toward front passenger side...sounds almost like a clicking sound or like there is something caught in the blade of the fan...but only can hear it when car is in drive..when i put in park..no sound...and only happens after about 30 minutes of driving...as I try to accelerate it gets louder and almost feels like car is being held back almost like it cannot go any faster than it is.. (remember i do not know much about terminology here so I am giving my best description..lol)...one thing that is interesting to me that it always happens plus or minus after 30 minutes of driving locally...why? can you help with at least a guess so i can start somewhere when i take it into the shop.. without getting a hole burned in my pocket for the wrong services :-(

Check your idle air control valve. Sounds as though it may be the problem. The other item could be the TPS, but I doubt it because it would idle poorly all the time even after warming up.

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee is blowing cold air for the first 30 minutes of my ride home (20-degree weather), then warms up slightly but never gets hot -- i'm guessing heater core (it has 200k+ miles)

It is most likely a thermostat. As your car gets older the thermostat begins to lose its spring like properties and stays open all the time causing your car to never warm up.

If you can't tackle right away, start your car in the morning and let it run for about 15 minutes to warm up. Be sure to turn the heat on full blast and recirculate the air.

I'd suggest the ignition control module, however I'd have a certified mechanic check it out just in case...

This means your thermostat is bad. Needs to be replaced. Also do coolant flush.
