You might need your manifold gasket changed. Had the same problem. GM used a corrosive in the dexcool, which they have since remedied. It's not a cheap fix, but it does save the vehicle. Had mine done in Feb of this year and I haven't had to put anything extra in it since.

is the car overheating or running hotter than normal? it could be the coolant temperature switch not working. it could also be something as simple as a relay in the fuse box

What is the normal operating temperature for a 2003 Chevrolet Impala with 3.4L engine? Mine use to be around 185 to 190 degrees on the gauge inside the vehicle. The gauge now can range from 200 to 220...

The range should be in the temp range of your thermostat within in a few degrees, you probably have a 190 degree thermostat. As the outside (ambient) temp rises it's normal for the engine to run a little hotter 200 degrees is safe with coolant, water boils at 212. Your fans should cycle, so it sounds like your temp sensor is faulty. if you haven't flushed your radiator and changed your thermostat lately, now would be a good time to do so. Hope this helps,

2003 Impala is making a whinning noise after car is started on front of driver side. Noise seems to leave after car has been running for a little while.

You may have a vacum leak. Its hard to say where its coming from without looking at it and listening to it but, the reason why it would stop when it gets hotter is that metal expands when its hot. But start with the cheap stuff. Maybe its just your belt that needs to be changed.

My 02 impala needs excessive fuel all of a sudden. the MAS sensor and air filter was replaced recently. It also runns a little hotter then usual

The O2 sensor should be replaced as a precaution, running hotter indicates a lean air/fuel mixture, the car should be throwing aOBD II code have the codes checked at Autozone to confirn the Oxygen sensor is bad it should read something like bank one sensor or O2 sensor malfunc.

Oil pressure light stays on

It will take a while for the oil to circulate throughout the engine at that cold of a temperature. You may want to get an oil change done and make sure you have the proper oil for the temperatures. What happends is that the oil gets thicker and has a harder time circulating through the engine. BE VERY CAREFUL leaving the car run with the oil light on. You can blow the engine very quickly as I learned the hard way. Good luck to you and thanks for using FixYa!

Sincerely,

JC
