Open the back hatch. To the side of the light housing where the hatch would normally cover it you will see what appear to be two black round screw covers. These are a type of snap pin retainer. Each one is made of two parts. Gently pry the top part up with a thin blade screwdriver. Make sure to pry it out evenly, not all from one side. It will release. When you get both removed for the light housing will be loose. Don't let it fall out of the body. When reinstalling the light housing be sure that the guide pin lines up properly. Then reinstall the two retainers pushing the top part down as it was before. I hope you will find it easier than it sounds. Keep me posted. be glad to know i made sense and you have working brake lights again.

I am actually having the same problem with replacing the entire lens. There must be a way to get the electrical component off without damaging it but I am not having luck with it. I would appreciate a suggestion too

Your not going to be taking off the lense to replace a buld for that car. There should even be plastic access panels somewhere near the taillights or you may have to take a plastic panel off and that would be how you replace a bulb. Reach in there and once you find the bulb you are going to want to twist it and it will come out the taillight assembly. Hope it helps!

My brake lights will not function on my 2000 grand caravan. All of the bulbs are new my rear lights work my reverse lights work but my brake lights will not

The bulbs could still be the problem since they are double filament bulbs. If your high brake light work but not the low ones the replace the bulbs. If none in the rear work then you may need a brake light switch(on the brake pedal linkage). If this is not the case the check for power to the brake light side of the bulb and repair the broken brake light wire.

REAR BRAKE LIGHT BURNED OUT

open the hatch and look at the side of the lens should be black and plastic. you'll find two TORX screws holding the lens on. remove the screws and give a good tug straight back on the lens. STRAIGHT BACK. (failure to pull in the correct direction could result in a broken retaining pin). it feels much more difficult than really needs to be. have faith. it'll go. good luck. by the way the bulb comes straight out of the socket. but the socket disconnects from the board by twisting it. be gentle here. test bulb for proper operation before reinstalling lens onto body.
