It depends on if it is a manual or automatic transmission. For the manual transmission, there is a 17mm allen plug in the side of it. Crawl under car and take the plug out. You can buy a fluid pump for about $20 at an auto parts store and the 17mm allen wrench is about $10 at sears. It is pretty easy on the manual transmission, hardest part for me was finding the 17mm allen wrench.
Automatic transmission?? you cannot put the transmission fluid in by yourself you have to take it either to a V.W. dealer or someone who services these types of transmissions the fluid has to be pumped in if you notice there is no dipstick to check the fluid level that's because they use this probe the stick into your transmission to see how much fluid you have the probe costs about $1500 dollars expensive yes keep in mind it will cost about $20 a quart the reason why I know this is because my brother is having problems with his transmission on his 2001 Jetta if you have any more questions, keep me posted be glad to help.

How to determine if there is an oil pressure switch in 1999 vw jetta

I think they possibly mean an oil level sender because that mounts in the side of the oil pan. It just a float switch, puts a light up on the dash idiot lights to tell you to put more oil in. Look up both sides of the oil pan, it will be a round bolt in affair about the diameter of an orange.
If you can't see one then it's the model without the oil level sensor.

The only thing you can use ia a non-chlronated brake cleaner. All you have to do is spray the small thin wires inside of it then let it dry for 10 minutes and re-install.

Using a lot of water 01 jetta 1.8t no visible signs of where water is leaking no white smoke from exhaust. no idea where the water is going.

Ok reservoir has a full line do not fill above that. If you do it will vent and siphon water out of the tank and become low.

Your Jetta has a block heater available. It plugs in and keeps the block warm, making it easier to start. Below is a link with step by step instructions for battery replacement.

Have a 1994 jetta GLS. When i turn ignition to acc the code IN 01 comes up. What might that code be?

That is a maintenance code and generally means change your oil. It can only be cleared by using the factory diagnostic computer called "VAG-COM". You can get them online from ross tech for about $200. There is nothing to fear by seeing this code other than it's annoying... Just make sure you are keeping up on your oil changes.

OIl types for engine and transmission - 87 jetta

The engine oil specifications can be found on the top of the filler cap under your hood, as well as in the VW Owner's Manual under specifications. VW's produced from the late 1990's typically use 5W-30 motor oil, and in the 1980's they typically speced 10W-30 (API*,SL 10W-30) motor oil. Your car knows best, check those locations first.

Check the motor mounts. They might be worn or loose which can cause vibration felt when the engine is reved up or running at higher rpms than at idle.
