SOURCE: Replacement Procedure for 2006 Ford Taurus Alternator

You will need a long 15 mm wrench for the belt tensioner. Pull the wrench to the front of the car very hard to make the tensioner move. Remove the belt from the idler pulley below the alternator. Remove the 15mm bolt on the right side of the alternator (looking at the pulley on the alternator). Remove the 13mm bolt on the support bracket and the support bracket from the alternator to the bracket. Disconnect the electrical connector and the battery cable at the alternator and remove the alternator. Install in reverse order. I hope this has been helpful. Please leave a good rating.

Here is the belt routing for the V6 Taurus. Basically the belt zig zags between adjacent pulleys, the back of the belt on the smooth pulleys and the inside on the grooved ones. Tension the belt so that you can twist the belt 90 deg on its longest run without too much force. Hopefully this helps you.

How to chg alternator on 2002 ford taurus 24v dohc 3.0

ctionsThings You'll Need
  • Flywheel holding tool
  • New alternator
  • Socket wrench set
  • Torque wrench
    • 1Determine which alternator your Ford Taurus will need. You'll want to be sure the new alternator is compatible with your Taurus's engine. Models made from 1986 to 1991 have a 2.5 L HSC, 3.0 L Vulcan or 3.8 L engine. The 2.5 L engine was dropped for 1992 to 1995 models, and post-1995 models will have a 3.0 L engine.
    • 2Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Release the tension on the accessory drive belt so that you can remove the drive belt from the pulley.
    • 3Take off the mounting bolt on the right side of the alternator with a socket wrench and remove the bracket for the power steering hose. Remove the mounting bolts on top of the alternator, the front passenger wheel and tire assembly and the front fender splash shield. Remove the alternator splash shield with a socket wrench and take off the inspection cover for the torque converter.
    • 4Mount a tool to hold the flywheel so you can remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and crankshaft pulley. Lower the alternator so you can unplug its electrical connections. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor and Oxygen sensor connector. Remove the lower alternator mounting bolt and B+ connector nut to remove the alternator.
    • 5Install the new alternator assembly by reversing the above procedure. Use a torque wrench to tighten the B+ connector nut to 71 in. lbs. and the lower alternator bolt to 18 foot pounds. Torque the crankshaft pulley bolt to 74. foot pounds, the upper alternator bolts to 18 foot pounds and the nut for the power steering hose bracket to 13 foot pounds.

2006 ford tauras i replaced batterie, alternator, and belt i have a noise coming for the bottom pulley while i spray wd40 around the bottom pulley only the noise stops what makes this pulley go out and how...

First, if you have sprayed WD-40 on your belt, your belt has been wrecked and needs to be replaced again. WD-40 will only soak into the belt and CAUSE it to slip and make noise.

Then you need to check the alignment of all the belt pullies. The tensioner pullies on many Fords can wear and sit a little out of alignment and cause the belt to rub sideways against the other pullies. Replacing the belt tensioner usually fixes it.

Belt diagram for a 2002 ford taurus ses

You normally can find the diagram on a sticker on the underside of the hood directly above the alternator on a 3.0 OHV motor 2002 Ford Taurus. I copied one from the Internet and taped it above the headlight on my car so it was easier to view and use. If you send me an email address I can post an image to you that shows the routing diagram or you can use this:
