Clicking noise under hood

I just put a motor in this 98 SL2 DOHC, ran it fot about twenty miles and went to charge the A/C and a very noticable ticking on right side and either the back or top of the motor, could this be a broken valve spring

What if anything else could this problem be other than the pcm?

Check for a fuse under the hood, I seem to recall there was some issues with the fuses getting corroded and causing odd issues in Durangos. Just can't recall the years that had the issues with the fuses. When you get to the fuse, inspect it really good.

Clicking noise under hood - have repaced alternator belt and pulley

i dont want to alarm you but you really need to check into this. the only 98 explorers i have heard with clicks have led to timing chain slider failures which is not a good thing,it was cheaper to buy used motor than to repair. go have it checked out or while the motor is running put your hand on top of valve cover on the rear pass side and feel for clicks or small taps or knocks while reving motor slightly. and repeat on the driver side front of engine. and i sure hope this is not your clicking noise location.

Just bought a 98 Saturn SL2 that is in excellent shape but high miles, mostly highway miles. It has 210,000 miles on it but was well taken care of and sounds and drives great. Had a new transmission put in...

yea it sounds like someone like most wanna be mechanics take a torques screwdriver and run the idle screw up on the throttle body instead of fixzing the real problem also you may want to concider testing and changeing the TPS

Motor noise

the clicking noise is probably the solenoid on starter! if this fails then all you will hear is a clicking sound. also check to see if you have voltage in battery, can also be alternator not charging right, if alternator is not charging it will not recharge battery. not enough juice to battery causing it ti click. battery voltage should be approx. 12.5- when running, voltage to battery should be approx.14 volts.

98 jeepwrangler won't start

This is basic, but first off, try to shift it into neutral, and try to start it. It is easy for the linkage to get out of adjustment, where it thinks the jeep is in gear. If that does not work, make sure you have battery power to the ignition and starter.

97 dakota, cliick/tapping noise, brown liquid spray, help

i would expect that the water pump has failed and would take a look closer in the morning and make sure nothing else has cracked, i expect the pump housing has but make sure its not a crack in the block or anything.
