Hazzard switch keeps clicking after i use my signal lights

Dear Steve_Borela,

Try pressing the switch again, these are usually DPDT (double pole double throw) switches. Meaning they have a push to make, push to unmake connection. In short your hazard lights are still on. If you have turned them off, then either your switch or a connection issue.

Hope this is the fixya for you.

Yours sincerely

Maybe the flasher unit under dash is bad, shorting out. Do the hazards work at all?

Turn signal is constantly clicking without turn signals on. Sometimes fast sometimes slow, just on it's own it starts clicking

It's more than likely to be the multifunction switch , the contacts get dirty and cause the flasher to continue to click . The flasher and hazard switch are one unit behind the dash , that's why you hear the sound from there.

The next step would be cleaning your multifunction switch. Clicking it into place wears away at it, leaving metal shavings in the grease surrounding parts. When enough metal accumulates, it likes to short and constantly complete the circuit.

Good luck and keep me posted, this was a recall and the fix was to clean the grease used, and or replace the unit.

Emergencey switch clicks even when turned off emergency switch clicks evan when turn signals are of

there may ber a recall on this problem, it is caused by the turn sigfnal/hazard flasher combination switch relay in the dash, check with the dealer 1st on the recall to see if it applies if not then u will need to replace the flasher unit in the dash, the switch is part of the hazard button and is located behind the ceter panel of the dash here is the whole recall.

2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU -- In December 2004, GM issued a special policy for MY 1999-2000 Alero, Grand Am and Malibu vehicles not covered under recall 03V327. The policy covered turn signal/hazard flasher failure for a period of 10 years or 150,000 miles (whichever occurred first) to provide a no cost replacement of the hazard switch. GM sent letters to owners starting December 30, 2004. In January 2006, GM will update the special policy to include MY 2002 Alero, Grand Am and Malibu vehicles not covered under recall 03V-327. The policy covers turn signal/hazard flasher failure for a period of 10 years or 150,000 miles (whichever occurs first) to provide a no cost replacement of the hazard switch. GM will send letters to owners starting late April 2006. The actions taken by the manufacturer is sufficient to resolve the issues raised by this investigation. Turn signal or emergency flashers wont work. parts store says they cant find a flasher for them. I checked the turn signal fuse and its good. Any ideas?

The flasher is located above the fuse panel. The relays are built into the switch itself. They have a recall on the 4 way flasher switch because it is faulty and causes blinkers not to turn on. Very common Malibu and other Gm problem
