Question about 1991 Chevrolet Camaro

1 Answer

Running problems I just bought a 91 camaro with a 2.8L V-6which is nowhere even close to my 84 which has basically no electronics it had no keys and yes has a pass key. I got around the pass key, got the motor to turn over but wont run. I have fire and can hear the fuel pump come on when the key is turned it even has gas in it. The only thing i think is wrong is the injectors are not pulsating like they should and cant figure out why they arent can anyone tell me why they arent. Thank justin

The pick up coil and module work together to give spark and pulse the injectors pull distributor and rebuild ,which all the 2.8 eng, are like this,,, also check to see if knock sensor is pluged up

Check the vats system. Also ignition control module are notorious for going out in these.
Has it set any codes? If so what are they?

Taking a 93 camaro front clip and installing it on

That is not even close to just bolting right up.If you want a camaro clip in your old truck you should use a clip from a 70 to 81 camaro. The subframes come out easy and are a fairly easy weld in as they are close to the same width as your truck frame. If you are not a skilled welder or fabricator you should just rebuild your truck front end,as this is NOT a job for a novice mechanic.A 93 camaro does not have a removable subframe like an older camaro they just have an engine cradle type frame that bolts up into the camaro not a frame that will work in your truck.

I have to put gas in the carberator for my 91 camaro rs to start, but it turns on and dies

Sounds like a bad fuel pump. It needs 11-13 psi to run the injectors

The ignition KEY to my 91 camaro broke i want to hot wire it for now what would be the least destructive way and how

Unfortunately your key has a chip in it which prevents anyone from hot-wiring it. Did the key break off inside the ignition cylinder on the column? If so, you should be able to turn the car on right?. If you have to replace the ignition cylinder you must have the key in the cylinder to remove the old one. I wish I could see this up close so that I could fix it for you. Keep me posted please.
