This is actuated by vacuum and you have a line off the actuator that moves the position of the flaps.

SOURCE: PROBLEM WHEN SELECTING THE DIRECTION FOR THE AIR

Sounds like you have a supply vacuum problem. When you lose supply vacuum to the control head it defaults to defrost.

SOURCE: Problem with air not coming out of vents.

Check for a vacum leak from the engine to the a/c.The color of the hose is black. Also check if the heater control valve hose is unplugged. If you have vacuum the it sounds like the door for the vent/floor/defrost is broken.

SOURCE: All Air Conditioning blows our the defrost vents

Some thing you could look at would be this. The control is usually fed by a vacuum line or small hose thats is connected to your intake manifold.
With a cold engine, look for a skinny vacuum hose that runs from the intake toward the fire wall . It should be going inside the cab and connecting to the A/C vent control. Some times the hose becomes disconnected or splits or cracks due to heat under the hood.
Thats usually the trouble.
I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: I have a 2002 Dodge Ram where vent selection won't change

Your heating and air conditioning system is controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM). Any diagnosis should begin with scanning the (BCM) for trouble codes to determine the source of the problem and/or which circuits and components are involved.

If a failed mode door actuator is, in fact the problem, the instrument panel must be removed to gain access to it.

I have a 1975 k5 blazer and it blows cold air it worked fine last year but now it only blows cold air even on the defrost setting what can the problem be and how can I fix it?

A vent flap actuator probably needs to be replaced. It's what moves your vent flaps from heat to A/C or to plain "vent air" when you change settings.

The discussion in the link includes vent flap actuators. Unfortunately, they also include the infamous no low speed fan problem too.

Cannot get any air from dash vents while defrost and floor vents work fine...

Your particular actuator will be a different one than they found.
They're all a absolute pain to get at because they can be well buried in the dash. I would start looking under the dash on the passenger side, that's where most of the air control is. Cannot get any air from dash vents while defrost and floor vents work fine...

The air only comes out of the circle vents on dash, not the defroster vents or floor vents. I have a 2005 Pontiac G6 base model and I am not sure how to fix this issue

In side you dash is a electronically controlled actuator call a mode actuator , it controls which vents the air comes out of ! They go bad, plastic gears in side of it wear out, a lot of times you'll hear a clicking sound in the dash. They are not to tough to fix ,you need to take Instrument Panel Insulator Panel off - Left Side under dash . Some times stuff drops down in an binds up the door inside .Have a little child , they like putting stuff in the vents ,pencil's an the like.

Dash vents are not opening on my 1997 Pontiac Bonneville?

Common problem here - - the air is directed by blend doors behind the dash - either by vac or electric motors.
You could have a door sticking or the device that moves it may be faulty.
Just about have to take the dash out to get to some of them.
If you want to tackle it, I would recommend a shop manual first.
Check your library.

Air, either heated or cooled only comes out the dash vents, cannot redirect air to any other vents.

The most common cause of your problem is the blend door actuator. This controls air flow from defrost, vent, floot etc. In most cases, replacing the blend door actuator will fix your problem. It's commonly located above or behind the heater vents on the floor of the cabin.

A/C from defroster vents only. Won't come out the dash vents or floor vents,

Most common cause is a bad blend door actuator. This controls how the air is diverted, Sometimes the actuator will become stuck in one position. There are 2 types, a cable driven or electronic driven. Search for blockages underneath the dash that could prevent the actuator from moving. Also, it's possible (if it's cable driven) that the cable is either broken or loose to the point where it won't move the door any longer.

A/C only blows through defrost vents. Won't switch to floor Or foot vents . Have tried a 2nd control unit in dash

It sounds like the blend door actuator which diverts air from defrost to vent to the floor.
The bad news is it's a bear to get at. It's located behind the glove box.

Climate control stuck in defrost/floor vents

The problem is probably a faulty diverter door actuator or vacuum problem at the HVAC plenum under the dash. This is a common problem - see YouTube for help diagnosing this:
