Try getting an alignment... If that doesn't solve the problem, That might at least find it.. I recommend getting a lifetime when possible if you plan on keeping the car for awhile. these cars are sensitive and the alignment goes very quickly..

My 2006 pontaic grand prix begins to shift very hard after a long drive (over 50miles) What could be the problem. I checked the fluid and it appears to be clean and full.

It sounds like the coils on your TCC (Torque Converter Lock-up) are starting to wear out. The TCC solenoid is a common problem with the GM Transmissions. They normally start to show signs of wear around 75,000 miles but I have seen them go bad as soon as 32,000 in high temperature areas.

One of the best things you can do with your Transmission is to add an External Transmission cooler. This will extend the life of your transmission by YEARS,,,

Jeep 4.0l drinking lpg for fun £35 - 50miles

Now you know why the petrol version is not wotrh anything here in spain ,diesel ?' YES ,i would need to inspect first as i think your torque converter is playing up or the front clutch is slipping ,but yes it could be a mecahnical fuel related fault but in all honesty apart from clean the air filter thats all you can do yourself ,the best advice i can give you is to ask a local mechanic to have a lookand check the obvious like for black smoke ,and to have a drive to see if it is transmission related because i think that if this is an american model its automatic for sure ,in europe the diesel manual is widely sold including more recently ford rangers and a GM model as well but they are all diesel manuals and i might add extremely popular to the extent of capturing sales from japanese pick ups and 4x4 .Me iam ford escort diesel manual man as i cannot the fuel prices for these fancy machines

Heat shield ratttling when you brake

Use small self tapping screws to re-attach...If only using it on the street, you can remove the lower portion and put a metal plate on short stand-offs (as a heat sink) between the floor and the cat if the top half is rotted out.
