Open the hood and reach down to where the parking lights are located and give the plug in a 1/4 turn conterclockwise and the bulb should release from the lamp case. Then just remove the bulb from the plug that you gave a 1/4 turn to...and replace bulb. Then just put the bulb back in the casing and give a 1/4 turn clockwise to tighten. NO TOOLS REQUIRED

Make sure you have good ground not only to the engine but from either battery to body and chassis or engine to body and chassis.

It would then be a bad ground. Start at the bulb fixtures cleaning and refastening; look for cracked broken wires as you go. A little multimeter will help.

1993 GMC Sierra 4x4, no brake lights, no rear running lights

If you still have this problem maybe this will help. I had to replace the trailer plug on a 93 GMC Sierra K1500 and had a problem with the light's not working. Had to trace wires from trailer plug up to tail lights. The problem was a broken ground wire. It took longer to remove all the tape and replace it than fixing the problem.
