My best advice since you didn't give us much to go on.
You have to look under the hood while the engine is running to find out where it's leaking. You may need someone to move the steering back and forth.

I doubt it. The brake system would not know or care what the transmission was doing.
You could move the truck with the trans in reverse as long as it was not running. No difference from being in drive or reverse.
I have pushed power steering fluid out of the pump by turning the wheel with the engine off, but never brake fluid from the master cyl.

Why is power steering fluid spewing out of the cap after replacing bad leaking power steering pump

You have Air in the Power steering System and it needs to be bleed out, And to do this if you Jack the two front wheels off the ground and Let them Hang free so there is No Load on the steering at all. please put some type of stands under the car, You will need more power steering fluid but before you add this you need to start your Car and turn the steering Wheel Slow from left to Right a few times, You will hear a wearing Notice come from the pump and you will see more fluid come out of the pump as well, that is the air trying to bleed its self out. The fluid coming out will be air rated lots of bubbles in it, Now that you have done this the Noise from the pump should start to go quite at this Point you can start to Add the New power steering fluid slow to the reservoir and keep turning the steering wheel from left to right slow (Never Fast but slow ) Have a lot of rags to clean the Mess. Hope this helps you. :)

Possibly blew the high pressure line, refill reservoir, have someone start the truck and turn the wheel while you observe for the source of the leak. Wear protective eyewear for safety.

If the hose is split, replace the faulty hose and refill the power steering fluid. (When the engine starts up, the power steering pump pressurises the system which is why the leakage occurred after you started the engine).

Power Steering Fluid???

The power steering pump is located under the alternator near the firewall. It is hard to get to so you most likely need a funnel with a flex pipe to reach it without making a huge mess. I hope this is helpful.

Power steering leak

Check the pump front seal, Wipe down the hoses and check the crimp fittings for leakage Also look carefully at the steering gear, the fitings and pitman arm seal ( this one is on the bottom) and the seal where the steering column goes in.
