86 lincoln town car oil light flickers

My oil light flickers while im slowing down an stopped...It goes off when i drive or put it in park..Changed the oil sending unit an put new oil an still does it

    we did a also changed the oil pump...still flickers culd it be a bulb going out?

    Put a motorcraft filter on it, not a fram as they will give trouble.

There is a sensor on the driver side on the oil pan. Either the sensor is bad, or has bad connection or you are a quart low.

Sounds like warped rotors that are siezing up due to your calipers sticking.

How to reset the change oil light for a 2007 lincoln town car. Hitting reset button doesn't do it.


FIRST press and release the setup button to display oil life= xxx
then press and hold the reset button for about 2 sec it should then display oil life set to 100%

Just pressing the reset button when the change oil light comes on while driving will not reset the computer

94 Lincoln TC engine stalls when slowing/stopping


Most common cause of stalling for Lincolns in that era is the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). It regulates fuel mixture, idle speed etc. A bad TPS will usually act up in one of two ways:
  1. When cold, car continually stalls
  2. When warm, car stalls when slowing down (especially if AC is on)
As far as valve cover oil leak, it's a problem that should be addressed to keep oil from fouling your spark plugs but highly unlikely to be the cause of your stalling problem. Hope this answers your question. All the best.
