Question about 1992 Toyota Pickup
If it's tyhe 3VZE and a 4x4 ten the fuel pump is in the front setion of the fuel tank the sending unit is in the rear section. remove the negative terminal from the battery. remove the fuel tank skid plate. remove the drain plug from the tank and open the gas cap to allow the fuel to empty in a timely manner. make sure your truck is near empty before doing this. there are six bolts on the skid plate and six bolts on the tank. You can remove the bolts from the tank and lower it enough to work on it without having to remove the filler hose and vent hose. I just did this last week, you will however have to ask the gods to make you skinny for a few moments to fit betwenn the drivers side frame rail and the exhaust pipe to reach the fuel pump bracket assembly. Amazingly, the bolts on the fuel pump bracket come out easy (8mm wrench or socket) the only thing you need to really be careful to not break the hard line conected to the bracket. The return line is rubber but the preesure side is like tin. I broke mine and had to get a new one. If youre like I am this is the first and only time you will be replacing the fuel pump. I got my '92 new and shes still going. Do the reverse to put it back together. except when you put the tank bolts back in just tighten enough to put fuel in so you can replace the negative terminal, to ignition to on so the fuel pump will pressurize the line, start tghe engine (Parking brake firmly applied) and check for leaks. Then tighten her up. Good luck.
