Does it start with the throtttle held open a litle bit. if yes clean throttle body with cleaner and try to start. check to see if there is fuel pressure. if yes the try ignition module.

Car died and wouldn't restart. Tried jumping still will crank but won;t turn over. Thinking timing belt.

could be timing belt but could also be a problem with the starter. a bad seal on the starter, loose wire on the starter solenoid. if the car is still cranking then the problem is most likely the timing. timing belt should be replaced every 60,000 miles

Runs eratic........won`t go .....engine makeing noise

Have you checked the timing belt yet ??
Depending on which engine you have, it may be an interference engine, which could damage the valves if the belt breaks while the engine is running or starting.

Check your timing to see if it jumped a bit.
If the timing belt broke, your outer belts would still turn off the crankshaft, but the engine sound, cranking, would be faster than normal, maybe a higher pitched whine. Anything going on like that?
I would think the one blistered plug was caused because it was loose and got too hot. But don't rule out a problem in that cylinder just yet. You may want next to do a compression test just to verify good compression. If it's okay, check fuel pressure. Good luck.

Have 1999 Chev Malibu 2.4L. On startup at times runs rough, strong smell of fuel, code P0300, check engine light flashes, all other systems test fine. Restarting after about 30 min, she runs smooth.

When I see that code and those symptoms I typically start by looking at the timing belt. When the timing belt gets stretched it will cause this code to come up. The other cause could be a bad Crank of Cam position sensor but we need to eliminate the timing belt as the problem first. To check if the timing belt is the problem do a compression check on the motor to see if you have 0 compression on any cylinders. Once you have done that let me know the results and we will proceed to the next series of checks.

see if the cam is turning when trying to start the engine (look through the oil filler cap) if its not, you may have a broken timing belt (and engine damage) if it wasn't empty on the fuel gauge I doubt it ran out of gas.
