Question about 1996 Audi A4

5 Answers

My Audi A4 air con is not blowing any air hot or cold how do I fix For a period of time the blower was coming on and the fault seemed to be intermittent It would run for a week and than stop for a week, there was no fixed pattern to the failure to work. However it has now stopped and is not working. My local garage has a diagnostic machine but can?t find anything wrong.

Its the heater motor brushes....101% guarantee it.

They can be bought on ebay for £12.50

Same thing happened with mine - the blower brushes were worn down. If you take out the glove compartment, remove the blower and take the motor off it, you will see three brushes (gold-bronze colour). Take them out, turn them round and you will get another year to look for spares (or it's 130 quid for a new blower).

Check the fuses and the wiring. If it is not that, Have the computer looked at by the dealer even though that is $$ it might be the only solution in this case.

AC blows warm air whil idle or at first start

U could be run on eco a/c where the engine is using the power until it has extra to spare. Warm at start could be simlarly that there is now cold air yet and has to "make" cold air to distribute when ready. See if u can find a setting for reg use. cheers, ps eco saves dollars/euros.

I have a 97 audi a4 avant. The air con gets warm but the fan doesn't blow. Started as an intermittent fault, but won't work at all now. Any ideas? Thanks

I.M NOT AN EXPERT BUT I THINK YOU MIGHT HAVE A PROB WITH THE HEATER BLOWER (BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX UNDER THE DASHBOARD) , THE BLOWER FAN MIGHT BE DEAD,,, MAYBE BECAUSE OF THE ¬BRUSHES¬ OR MAYBE THE SMALL ENGINE IS BURNED. IF ANY FRIENDS CAN HELP YOU TRY AN ¬OUTPUT TEST VAGCOM¬ THE COSTS MAXIMUM 150$ OR 130£. GOOD LUCK!!!

1996 Audi A4 Air Conditioning Causes Fuse/FuseBox To Melt

facia one fuse 25
facia two relay 16
facia three fuse 5, relay 2, relay 3

all three of the above panels are located on the drivers side (which in the diagram i have is righthand drive).

Those are pretty much all the fuses and relays that control your a/c. the clicking noise you hear is probably one of the three relays i've listed. now i don't know alot about audi's except i'll never own one. but i have a lot of information if you have other questions.

that flickering you noticed could be one of the relays failing or you have a short somewhere in the wiring.

anything else you need feel free to ask

Robert

Please take a moment to rate this solution .. thanks

Incidentally the only reason that i can think of that those parts would melt is that the current is high on those wires. are there any recalls that you are aware of ?
