You should have an emmisions sticker under the hood that gives the specs for timing and information about setting up your computer for timing the engine.

2002 3500 GMC Savana 5.7 how do I set the timing?

You can\'t. GM did away with timing light based ignition timing on the vortec engine family. You can adjust the distributor, but it adjusts something called Camshaft Retard Offset, and can only be read using a scan tool. The only reason you would need to check the camshaft retard offset is if you removed the distributor or intake manifold and accidentally got the distributor off a tooth or two.

How do I remove brake drum on 2000 GMC Dually

Open up the hood, remove the headlight covers then remove the cross mounting thing to the grill. Then gently push bottom of the grill down and out. Then the grill should basically just pop out. --------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 1999 gmc 3500 crew dually with a 454 engine in it. This week it started running rough and idling funnny. Could this be the fuel filter or something else?

The fuel filter may need to be replaced, but wont fix the problem you have. Its just a maintenance item that should be done every 15k miles anyhow. Check it over, check the large hose between the air filter and the engine make sure its secure. see if all hoses are ok, if you see/hear a vacuum leak. If all looks ok, time to have it checked by a shop.

If the brake pedal goes to the floor and there are no external leaks, then the master cylinder may need to be bled.

My 1990 GMC sierra pu dies randomly while driving or even sitting. Seems to be more prevalant when raining but now does it all the time.

COULD BE BAD IGNITION COIL OR MODULE.IT COULD BE BAD FUEL INJECTOR OR INJECTORS.CLOGGED FUEL FILTER. A BAD DISTRIBUTOR CAP ROTOR + BAD PLUGS AND WIRES WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS AND BAD FUEL WITH WATER IN IT.

Hei distributor on old L6 engiune won't fire coil

'56 engine was likely a "blue flame" engine that had a points type ignition system. If someone installed a HEI setup in there, you need to know what year vehicle it came from. The old system used a hot wire from the ignition switch to the (+) side of an external coil...the (-) lead went to the points. The most common conversion uses the same (+) wire but it then connects to the "batt" terminal on the distributor cap.(coil is inside) There are no other wires involved except for the short harness that goes directly into the distributor that connects the coil, pickup coil and control module to each other..
