Just unbolt the oil pan (after draining the oil) the old one will probally be stuck to the pan so scrape it off and just put the new one on and bolt it back up. Very easy job.

I don't know specifics on your car, but in most engines you'll have to lift the engine to get access to the bolts to remove oil pan. You need to get a manual (Autozone) and read up on it to see if you're ready to go there. It may not be for the faint of heart. Good luck

The oil pan is at the bottom of the engine. You might have the exhaust in the way, in which case you need a helper so that you can remove the exhast from the engine and take the entire pipe from the vehicle. From there, make sure you drain all the old oil from the engine and pan. Unthread all the bolts that surround the old oil pan gasket (you may have to remove the starter motor to gain access to a few bolts). Lower the pan carefully off the engine block (the oil pump and oil filter screen are within the oil pan. You want to make sure not to damage these componets or the baffle inside the oil pan). Your new gasket may have four retainers-especially if it's a Felpro gasket. These retainers go into the corners of the engine block mating surface for the oil pan. Slide your gasket up onto the retainers and engine block, then put your oil pan onto it (the retainers will hold it loosely in place. Put all the bolts but the four corners into the engine block. Remove the retainers and replace the bolts. Reconnect the exhaust pipe. Fill engine with oil, run, and check for leaks.

How do i replace oil pump on 01 monte carlo ss

If the oil pan will clear the steering components without jacking up the engine then drop the pan and unbolt the oil pump. You'll need to get a new pan gasket for the oil pan too.

I have a 2003 monte carlo ss i fixed the intake gasket but now the car losses oil pressure i changed the oil and put in 10 w 40 new filter found out i use the wrong oil so i changed the oil to 10 w 30...

It is hard to say without being able to check the vehicle. It is possible that gasket material, silicone, etc. ended up inside the engine duing the repairs and is now stuck in your oil pump screen. It is also possible that you really do not have low oil pressure and the gauge is "lying" to you.

The way to find out is to remove the oil pressure sending unit and install a manual gauge. Take an actual pressure reading to see if the car's gauge is accurate. If it is not accurate, you most likely need a new sending unit. If you find that the oil pressure is actually low, then it is time to pull the oil pan and look inside to see what kind of damage or debris is in the oil pan.

My car is leaking oil, it is from the basepan. Is

By basepan, do you mean the oil pan? The 3800 engine in your monte has problems with the pan gasket leaking, or the pan itself rotting. You can do it yourself, but it requires either lifting the engine up about 6 inches, or dropping the cradle.

If you can do that, then yes, you can change it yourself, otherwise, you will need to take it to the shop. I've done 3 of them and it is a pain. Unless you're really into being a mechanic, take it somewhere.

How do i replace the oil pump on an 87 monte carlo ss

If you need to ask, likely you would benefit from the instructions found in either haynes or chilton manuals...Depending upon which engine you have , instructions vary...all v8 engines have the pump located inside the pan. Some other GM engines have it inside the timing case cover. Instructions are not difficult but far too long to write here.
One important note...Unless the oil pump pickup is obstructed with hard carbon etc, Your problem is very likely the rod or main bearings, not the pump, though if the bearings are worn you should change the pump as well.

Replac 2003 monte carlo oil pan gasket

To remove the oil pan on any vehicle, first remove anything obviously in your way...starter, exhaust pipe etc. Then disconnect the engine mounts and raise engine to gain sufficient clearance between frame and pan. You cannot support the engine from under the pan so either use a fixture above the engine or put blocks between mounts and engine to support it. After all rail bolts have been removed, remember that the oil pump pickup will interfere with removal somewhat but pan can be maneuvered around it. Anything preventing you from getting the pan out will then need to be removed or moved as they are identified. Be careful when raising the engine that you do not break anything above it as it comes up.
