Question about 2006 Jeep Wrangler
Was an intermittent problem a few weeks ago.
Now I can't get the door open at all any more.
It's locked, my attempts to unlock either inside or with
key result in a mild "spring-back" to the locked direction.
Trying to unlock & pull door handle simultaneously
does not work.
Damp weather has always seemed to bring the problem
on in the past.
My wife had an old Nissan that the lock rods came off inside the door, it prevented me from opeing the passenger door. What I had to do is drill some strategic holes to gain acess to the striker on the door channel. Once I had access, I center punched and drilled the stricker bolts out so the stricker was no longer fastened to the channel. Once this was done, I was able to push the door open, remove the door panel, get in there to see what had happened and repair/replace the problem. It was a weekend project, but it was alot cheaper than taking it to a shop (who quoted me up to $1000.00). Ended up costing me only the parts (about $20.00). Good luck.
