What were the codes??? You should have gotten one code if it was only one O2 sensor that went bad. If all three O 2 sensor went bad you would have gotten three different codes. P0031 (bank1 sensor1) P0051 (bank2 sensor2) P0061 to P0064 O2 sensor after the catalytic. Hops this helps.

Check engine light came on. scan said was O2 sensor. replaced O2. after trying to reset computer using scanner and disconnecting battery terminal, check engine comes back on after driving a few. code

The problem has to be fixed first.
The code probably did not say "replace sensor" but rather that the signal from the sensor was out of range.
The real problem could be the fuel system or other things.
What is the actual trouble code and vehicle info ?

Check engine light and T/C light come on. Machanic changed Bank1 Sensor1. Lights stayed of for a very short time less than 15 miles, both came back on. Machanic checked it with computer, no good answe

I doubt the code said to replace the O2 sensor. It probably said there was an issue with the data it was sending to the computer.
Sometimes the sensor is faulty, and sometimes there is a problem with the fuel system.
The O2 sensors give the computer data it uses to adjust fuel mixture.
If you can get the actual trouble code or codes we can advise.

1998 gmc Sierra Engine light comes on and says O2 sensors. Replaced all sensors. Next day the light comes back on and says O2 sensors. What causes them to blow?

Hi, there are a number of trouble codes associated with the O2 sensors. Some indicate a sensor failure and others indicate a different problem. Can you tell me the trouble code you are getting?

I need the trouble code for a 1998 saab 900se turbo whats wrong the codes i have are p0133 and p0705 what does this mean

P0133
O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response Bank 1 Sensor 1

P0705
Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit (PRNDL Input)

HI. Lets start with the P0133 Code:

This code is in reference to the O2 sensor that is behind the catalytic converter(down stream sensor). You will need to test the connecting harness that links that sensor to the ECM for shorts. If the harness is ok, simply, replace that sensor.I would also advise to check for any apparent exhaust leaks as well and for proper MAF functions. You will more than likely have to replace the sensor, but ti be safe, check the areas I have stated first before you replace it.

Now, lets move on to the next code. This will be the P0705:

This code is in reference to the park/neutral position switch circuit. The only recourse here will be to replace that switch. It has failed.

05 COROLLA P0031

What does that mean? A P0031 DTC (diagnostic trouble code) refers to the O2 sensor (oxygen sensor) located on Bank 1 in front of the catalytic converter. There is also an oxygen sensor behind the converter which is Sensor #2.
This O2 sensor #1 may also be refered to as an air/fuel ratio sensor since on some vehicles it is. It detects the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas compared to the outside air and then vehicle's computer adjusts the air/fuel ratio going into the engine. The sensor is less effective when the exhaust gas temperature is low, so it includes a heater which is activated to help get better readings from the A/F O2 sensor. Essentially this P0031 code means that the resistance of the heater circuit is lower than normal. In most cases, that resistance level must fall below 0.8 A to trigger the DTC code.
Note, this code is very similar in nature to P0032, P0051, and P0052

Potential Symptoms Most likely you'll not notice any symptoms other than the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp, a.k.a. the check engine light) will illuminate.
Causes A P0031 DTC trouble code may be caused by one or more of the following:
  • A short or open in the heater circuit in the sensor
  • A failed O2 sensor heater
  • Wiring/connectors broken/frayed leading to sensor and/or relay
  • Failed PCM/ECM
Possible Solutions Need an O2 Sensor? Visit our O2 Sensor shopping area for the lowest price on your replacement sensor!
To fix a P0031 DTC code, you'll need to do a proper diagnosis. To do that, you'll want to inspect the wiring and connectors leading to the sensor. Also if equipped with a heater relay and fuse, you'll want to check those as well. Use a digital volt ohm meter to:
  • check for 12 volts at the heater circuit feed (hint: unplug the sensor and check at the wiring connector to do this measurement)
  • check the ground circuit for continuity
  • measure the resistance of the heater circuit (done on the sensor itself)
  • measure the resistance and voltage of the wiring
Refer to a service manual for the correct specifications (volts, ohms) for your vehicle. On some Toyota vehicles this code is triggered when the resistance of the heater circuit is below 0.8 A.
With that said, a common fix for this DTC is to replace the air/fuel (O2 oxygen) sensor #1 on bank 1.
Please keep in mind that OEM (original equipment) replacement sensors are recommended (from the dealer). Aftermarket sensors can be less reliable and of poorer quality (not always, but more often). There's also a chance that replacement parts for the P0031 code may also fall under a federal emissions warranty (check with your dealer to see if it's covered).
