Question about 2003 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

I have 2003 EB Expedition with 85K miles. The start has not been smooth, however Ford says it's fine. Now it has begun to hesitate, almost stall when driving. Occasionally it makes a noise as if it's about to turn off.

It's eating nylon gear wheels and the cylinder does not rotate freely when pushing it manually so it's a pain putting it back in the garage as I have to lift the mover such that it runs on its front plastic rollers.
ALSO cable that engages the blade rotation is too long such that I have to physically pull the cable to get rotation - it I cut the nipple off the end to shorted the cable then there will be nothing on the end of the cable to engage in the bracket that connects to the pully wheel spring

fuel pump may be going. try this. turn key on, listen for fuel pump to run for 5 seconds. Turn key off, wait 15 seconds or until you hear relay click inside car. Turn key on again for 5 seconds and ff for 15 seconds. repeat once more. This will pressurize fuel system to 40 psi so injectors have full pressure. If it starts quickly now, you are getting bleed down through the check valve in the fuel pump or the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail.
About the noise there may be serveral reasons like: have the front wheel caster and, camber checked and, set by an auto shop before your wheel bearings fail
or Sounds like you need to get a wheel alignment, this usually needs to done after any repairs done to the tie rods, center links and/or suspension work. As far as price its usually done for under a $100 usually depends on the vehicle
or brake pads might have gone loose. have it checked!
Thanks for contacting Fixya

2003 Ford Expedition XLT acts like it is starving for fuel. It starts up just fine but once going down the road it then hesitates and wants to bogg down. It has a really hard time on an incline. What could...

You need to install new spark plugs every 70,000 miles

If that was done, then you have a worn out TPS Sensor,
and possibly a bad COP Igniton Coil as well

You will get 1 or 2 coils a year go bad

If it is just on hills, when you have a high vacuum load,
then check out the EGR Valve

Ford 2003 Expedition EB. Check Charging System

Its probably the alternator. It will need to be tested on the vehicle with the engine running and the light illuminated. Measure the battery voltage with the engine running. It should be at least 13.5 volts. If it is lower have the alternator tested at a shop with a charging system tester.

My 2003 expedition EB vibrates when applying brakes

the front rotors are warped ahd either need to be turned or replaced. use quality parts and motorcraft pads. if you use cheap rotors, they stand the chance of either being warped upon install or warping soon after.
