why not scan to PCM for transmission errors.
    first fuses
    then scan it.
then get the manual on the truck and learn
    how it works.
there are many on car tests, you seem to skip them all.
This car I think has TCM
if yes, it will scan with the PCM.
all USA cars, plug in the scan tool, and scan it.
or start your own post with your facts,
not guessing that others with 200 different
problems is same as yours, I BET ITS NOT.

If said car, has a TCM (regardless if where it hides) the inputs to The TCM must be correct or it will no auto shift correctly
THE OP fails to say DRIVE, (forward)
if any A/t fails ind DRIVE, I check the cable to the trans first to sure it is IN DRIVE.
FIRST, That is called the manual valve.
but if the TCM fails it can interfere with the trans operations.
but you did not scan it;.

That winter /summer switch only changes
TCM shifting profiles. (shift points )
    to prevent skids on ice.
if the winter button fails, like this
it implies the TCM has bad inputs.
    scan it
    get it scanned.
or the TCM is selection 2nd gear to start car
    moving to avoid skids
and that means trans fails in 1st gear.
so move the shift lever to Low
    does car move now???????????
if not that is a bad trans.

the key here is what does winter drive do.
winter drive skips to 2nd, for sure.
so there you are, 1st gear is dead.
    try Low yet, be next.
low must work or the trans is bad.

98 isuzu rodeo transmission only goes in winter mode

sounds like a possible valve-body solenoid problem in transmission or maybe switch problem

I need to know what the power drive and winter drive buttons are for on a 1998 isuzu rodeo

The winter drive button gears the transmission down so that it doesn’t spin when you take off from a dead stop in the snow and ice. It only activates by pressing and holding it when at a stop and then accelerating.

Power is for when you are hauling heavy loads. It holds a higher rpm before shifting to next gear giving you best hauling performance.

First check you fluid level,if good have it flushed out with new fluid,if this does now work, time for rebuild, unless you know how to adjust the bands.

2005 isuzu stuck in low ratio

with all old fourbies, they get a bit suborn odd tires etcetera. In a straight line, drive forward a bit then reverse slowly (only a meter or two) while pulling on selection lever, should shift out easily.

1996 Rodeo Isuzu - I put it in Winter Drive and now 1 rear wheel

Based on another similar problem and it was fixed driving backwards, that's exactly what I did. I drove the Rodeo backwards and then would stop and put it in gear and did this for 10 minutes until I worked the 4x4 gear loose and now all four wheels run. I must say, I created quite a sight driving backwards in a Wal-Green's parking lot for 10 minutes.
