Turbo / Boost Issues

Sounds like a faulty boost pressure sensor or waste gate. I would check the waste gate first. Sounds like it is opening to soon and letting the boost out, than regaining again.

2005 dodge 3500 5.9 cummins,it died driving down the road.will not start blows white smoke trying to start.oil leaking at back of turbo, checked turbo bearing seem fine.

You have a blown turbo. You have to replace the turbo the oil is going into the turbo and being recycled into the engine and being put into the cylinders if you keep driving it the way it is you will eventually blow the engine. It will high RPM and be running on oil it is called a runaway turbo. It will burn every ounce of oil in your engine in a matter of min utes and your engine will seize up before you know it.It is an exspensive part to replace but it is a very easy thing to change even for the most un mechanical person.Make sure you change your oil & filter at the same time because you will probably have diesel fuel in your oil as well. The bearing does not have to be bad in order for the turbo to be bad.

First thing I would check is the electric thottle body to make sure the flap is not sticking. In 1.8T's the oil vapours from the turbo tend to build up causing a gummy film in the throttle body. If it is remove the 4 bolts holding it and the wire connector and clean it using a fine sctoch bright apd and some intake cleaner. Dry it off well, and make sure the gasket is still good.

Other things could be a basic setting after the clean which requires a scanner to do basically resetting the stop of the motor and adapting it to the car's computer.
