Question about 1987 Dodge Dakota
I have a 1987 dodge dakota truck, this started when i let the gas level get to almost empty- its begins to **** and feels like the fuel stops when the car gets to about 45 miles an hour, than the car just dies, it will restart after 20-30 seconds of letting it sit- ive replaced the sm fuel fiter in the front of the engine, and also added fuel /carb cleaner-what else should i check for, ive had problems with the gas tank and had to replace it 10 yrs ago,it was sucking in residue-
Sounds like the fuel pump is plugged up. measure the fuel pressure if you can. also would disconnect the fuel filter, and crank it for a few seconds ,draining the fuel into a clear container to see if it is contaminated.banging on the tank with a piece of wood may dislodge some stuff too.never run below 1/4 tank with an electric pump,as it uses the fuel to cool the pump.
