Saturn 1999 One set of head lights won't go on now.
Mechanic says it could be costly if it electrical so I didn;t try to fix it yet.
Any ideas. how expensive? Is it worth trying to change bulbs first and/or fix it?
Saturn has an inner and outer part of the headleaps so I am legal driving but it's dark

If your lights are dim, your regular lights are not coming on.raely but possible that both lamps blew. the daytime running light module is probably the cause.it has a relay inside of the sealed box and they freeze up sometimes.if your dtr works, the high beams should as well. these are things to check....bulbs,the fuses, wiring and the daytime module.modules are about 100 bucks or so,and if you follow the headlight wiring sometimes you can find it.

My "Service Engine Light" has

The service engine soon light indicates a problem in the engine management system; that is the system that controls fuel mixture, spark timing, idle speed and many other things that make the engine run properly. Finding the problem, which is usually a sensor out of specifications, requires a scan tool and a mechanic that knows how to interpret the data from the scan tool.

What's the meaning of a symbol looking red with a car/wrench on the instrument panel of a 2003 saturn l200? horn don't sound,ac won't work, doors won't unlock after ignition is turned off.

A wrench symbol is the equivalent to a check engine light. Take your car into a mechanic and let them diagnose the error code the engine light is storing to help diagnose the problem.

My mechanic tells me my Saturn 2003 L200 is leaking oil from the head gasket. 9 hours labor to get to it an replace the head gasket. Yikes. Can some of these head gasket sealers be worth using? (all...

Hello coolbelt: My name is Roger and I will be glad to help. I would strongly recommend not using any add to the coolant quick fix products. All you are doing is adding to the cost of the repairs. You will end up with cooling system plugged up and heater core plugged up. Check around at other shops on the cost of repairs. A head gasket replacement is expensive on newer cars. The parts and labor are expensive. Not as expensive as a fix in a can could be. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Locating backup switch for my standard 1999 saturn

It should be right above the left side driveaxle.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the light switch,
Unscrew the switch from the case and remove the gasket,
Install a new gasket, screw in the new switch and tighten it securely.
Reconnect the electrical connector, then check the operation of the lights.

New motor cost

You won't find a new motor anywhere. The options are to get a used motor from a junkyard car or to rebuild your own or the junkyard one. If done yourself you can do it for $1,000. If you ask a mechanic or dealer to rebuild it hold onto your wallet as it will cost you at least $2,500, usually more than the car is worth.

My opinion is to get a used motor that runs and swap it in. They can be had for as little as $100 at most junkyards. Then just swap over. Remember to use the same motor (DOHC or SOHC) and the correct year. The '99 SL(1 or 2) is kind of a weird year as it was a transition from the 5 bolt head for the exhaust manifold and horizontal intake manifold to the 9 bolt head and vertical intake. Best bet is another '99 engine from the right SL level.

Code reads number 3 cylinder misfire on my 98 saturn sl2. Changed the plugs and wires. Whats my next move?

I'm having a similar problem with my 2001 Saturn SL-2. My mechanic says this is due to a manufacturing defect in the cylinder casting. He says my cylinder looks like swiss cheese. If is affecting my fuel flow and, caused a small coolant leak into the head gasket. The only cure is to purchase a brand new head cylinder and replace. Estimated cost; $1,600.

DIY about $10-15 (headlight is halogen, I think, these are more costly that the old type)
Mechanic about $20-25
If they both are only bulbs that are bad.
