I have a 98' TC. I had a problem with it overheating, when i opened the hood there was antifreeze splattered everywhere. I had a buddy crank and rev the car to locate where it was coming from. turns out the heater hose & fitting were hanging in the rear of the compartment. the threads on the fitting seem fine but the hole were the fitting screws in is stripped. can someone help me!!??? I dont want to have replace the heater core. What should/could I do?

The hole threads are stripped. I am not familiar with the heater system on th Lincoln. There is a product on the market called an Helix coil which can be used to replace the stripped threads. I will not go into how they are used but you will get that information and instructions where you get the helix Coil

98 chrysler sebring sat w/out running for 4 years cranks but wont start any suggestions as to what is the problem or what to do to make it start

I would have probably given it a total tune-up, first, checked all the fluids. New antifreeze. Changed the oil and filter. Drained the gas tank, used fresh gas. Pulled the spark plugs and belt, put a drop or two of oil in each cylinder, then turned the crank by hand before trying the starter motor.
Then, if it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse. Any applicable trouble codes?

How do i get antifreeze back in a radiator after it over heats

You have a reservoir that has fluid level markings for hot and cold for the coolant fill it to the full mark for cold after the engine is cooled down. If this is the reservoir that burst and it leaks then replace it. If the engine just overheated and boiled the antifreeze out then find out why and fix that issue.

I have a 86 Nissan 720. Suddenly the engine started overheating after about 15 minutes, and there's a loud clacking under the hood when revving the engine. All fluids etc are fine. Any suggestio

you have a rev limiter on that car. DO NOT OVER REV. the engine. The clacking sound is more then likely your valve tap-its from being over heated. Replace your thermostat and make sure you change your coolant every 2 years. Sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. Replace your thermostat every year or 2.

Car is overheating while idling.

Your radiator fan is probably failed. Pop open hood, watch temp rise, once past "normal " level teh fan should turn on. If not, you need to trouble shoot the rad fan. There should be heavy duty fuses and relays under the hood in an electrical distribution box. You should consult the owners manual or chart on the box lid. Of course the fan maybe bad itself. You can also try - turn on the AC, this will activate the 2nd (booster) fan, and should help prevent serious overheating but wont fix the underlying problem.
Good luck

My 98 honda civic is overheating. The antifreeze resovoir is full, but when I open the radiator cap, there is none in there. I poured antifreeze in the radiator only to start overheating again within...

if your loosing coolant and its not dripping on the floor then the only option is you have a blown head gasket. This can be tested using what is called a chemical block test or a smog machine can sniff your coolant for fuel that isbeing pushed past the bad head gasket. This is a $2000 dollar job if the gasket is bad.

Started engine on cold morning and left running to defrost screen...... came back 15mins later to find engine oil all over floor......

Either the oil cap was left off, or there is a really bad leak somewhere.

Look at the engine for signs that oil is splashed everywhere and the cap is on. If the oil cap is on and there is splatter everywhere, there is a leak in the upper part of the motor. If not then the leak is most likely lower.

Fill the engine up to the full level on the oil dipstick, start the car with the hood open and watch for the leak. Be ready to turn the car off quick if it starts to leak out real fast. If this is the case, have the car towed to a repair facility. You do not want to drive it!

Antifreeze pipe burst & ANTIFREEZE IS ALL OVER THE ENGINE

you may have antifreeze in your electrics, in some cases it can turn acidic. and cause electrical faults, if you have a leak and it goes everywhere you need to flush the hole area with water to clean it off, it can even remove paint is some cases depending on the type you have put in the water system. all your wiring will need to be check and cleaned, remove battery when doing this. as you dont want to short out the battery with water.
