If the check engine light is on as well, the van may be stuckin "limp in mode" which keeps the transmission from causing internal damage. Aside from that check the fluid level and condition. Fluid should not be excessively dark or smell burnt. If fluid is not the issue, it needs to be checked by your dealer or independent shop
