Question about 2000 Volvo S80
This has been going on with my car for over a year now and now it won't even drive. We've tried so many things to try to fix it I'm at a loss. I'm upside down on it and can't even sell it! Any help or thoughts would be very helpful. What was that comment about a recall?
Since I do not understand your "won't drive", I will suggest this. If before this problem your ABS light would come on and than it would go out after you restart your engine. The problem might be the ABS module. If you can read the OBD error codes you likely will have P0722, P1618 and P1633. A message that says the transmission needs service. From what I have found on the web is replacing the ABS module will correct the problem. It appears that the ABS module has a life of 5 years to 80,000 miles on average. Volvo networks a lot of its computer information thru the ABS, thus a bad ABS can indicate a bad transmission. I am told that Auto Zone auto parts can read the error codes for you. But they may require you to being your car to their stop. You can also purchase your own ODB II reader from and auto parts store or Sears. Hope that helps.

P1633 is" ignition 0 switch" on the OBD 2 reader.
P1618 did not show any readout at all !
