Question about 2001 Hyundai XG300

Code P0115 keeps showing up. What should I do??

I have had so many problems with my 2001 Hyundai xg300.
I recently had all 3 catalytic converters replaced because they were ALL clogged. and I am having a problem with it starting. It will start when it wants to, but at times it turns over but will not fire. It runs super rich and always smells like gas. I just replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor and that code has since cleared. My car is still not starting sometimes and I am so frustrated. Nobody seems to know whats wrong. Could the Coolant temp sensor be the problem? Thats the only code that shows up. will it prevent my car from starting? everytime someone looks at it they give me different responses. I just dont know what to do from here. I hate guessing and wasting my $$. I need my car to start when I want it too, not whenever it feels like it.
Any info will help!
Thanks in advance! :^)

The engine coolant temp sensor could be the problem. The cars engine computer uses the ECT signal to determine how much fuel to use to start the engine. If the sensor is malfunctioning and the computer gets a bogus temp signal, it can add to much fuel for the temperature that the engine is at when attempting to start.

If your mechanic is right about catalytic converter at fault then you can ask him to just remove those for a while and check if your car works fine. Catalytic converter are there just to reduce pollution and I don't recommend to drive without them but for checking you can do that for a while.

I have my engine light on, in my xg300 Hyundai 2001 if i replace the mass air flow sensor and my fuel air metering my light go off, Im a woman trying too fix my car my self pls help tks code...

check engine light will not go out or codes cleared till computer is cleared so if you have set off a code while trying to diagnose it will stay in memory with that in mind

PO171 & 174 are related to bank 2 lean o2 sensor reading high oxygen in exhaust at sensors
PO120 has to do with throttle position sensor input out of range
PO306 is a misfire in #6 cylinder

in my opinion any miss will cause o2 sensors to read lean because the cyl is in effect a air pump sensors only pick up o2 not the fuel does you engine run rough or hesitate/shaking on acceleration
i would check coil wire and plug for #6 also the injector not working will cause miss also they look ok do compression test on cyl will read 150psi if you find cause of miss you will be able to diagnose lean

with the tps sensor check to see if the connector was disconnected at any time you were testing

basically you need to isolate misfire and fix then have the computer cleared of codes drive car and if engine light comes on then we will go through test procedures for new codes

i hope this helps you to get a few ideals on how to proceed good luck ley me know

It's possible you have a dirty air intake system (throttle body butterfly valve may be dirty, or even the MAF. However it is hard to say without having sensor data to analyze

Year 2001 XG300 P0115, P1159, P1191, P1193, P0115

P0115 - Engine Coolant Temp Sensr - open/short
P1159 - Variable Intake Motor Malfunction

P1191/P1193 Limp Home Valve - Low RPM

First, clean the throttle body and check for anything which might obstruct AIR FLOW to it.

The P1159 is the Variable Intake Motor Malfunction. this motor is either 'OPEN'... or 'CLOSED' position. It is located on/in the intake manifold (plenum) and is only opened when cruising... it is closed at idle. If it sticks 'OPEN' is can cause drivability issues.
