If there is a chip in the key then yes you will need to go to the cadillac dealer for a code or you can find out how many omhs the key is and then have the security bypassed

Battery is fully charged turn key on dash lights up but starter will not engage

Any testing at starter motor, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Usually two voltage circuits at the starter, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with key in the crank position, it may be wired through clutch or neutral switch, depending on the tranny. It may have a starter relay? The starter motor usually grounds through the engine block. I don't know if you have a security system that can effect your starter motor?

Harley will not start .battery fully charged relay pulling in but will not start 2005 model fatboy

Check to make sure voltage is getting to the starter while you have the start button pushed. If you have battery voltage then you need to repair or replace the starter

Cant get my starter to engage when I turn the key on.

Is the battery fully charged and all cables clean and tight? You can try tapping on starter motor with a blunt object while trying to crank it. If it starts, the starter motor is bad

Wont start

If your battery is fully charged it sounds like you have a starter issue. The solenoid is clicking but the starter motor is fried.

My entire system has shut down, and someone said it's the security system. Where's the switch or reset button?

>security system. Where\'s the switch or reset button?

If it was that easy why have a security system? GM does it again.

This worked on a 2000 so try it and see if it works on yours.

(1)Turn key to crank & then release. Security light still on. Wait till it goes off (maybe 15 minutes)
(2)Turn to off. Repeat step one.
(3)Turn to off. Repeat step one.
(4) Turn to off. Wait 20 seconds and start car.

Key must go to full off on each pass. Must have fully charged battery. Good Luck.

Even if this does not work a good testimonial would be appreciated

I have a 2003 dodge durango v8 and the motor will not start. When I turn the key the engine makes no sound at all. The lights in the interior work, as well as the keyless entry. Is this a battery problem...

The problem is most likely the starter, but you should ensure that the battery is fully charged before proceeding. The battery doesn't need to be fully charged to run just about all the interior lights and the head lights, but attempting to crank the engine is a large current draw, and can drop voltage quickly on a partially discharged battery.

If the battery is fully charged, continue to checking the starter.

Hello
Trace the battery cables back sounds like something is loose like the ground to the engine or the power cable to the power distribution box

Recharge the battery. Or buy a new one. But make sure you have a fully charged battery. What happened was that the battery drained because it probably needs replacement. When the battery drained too low. The ECU deprogramed itself. When installing a new or fully charged battery. Start the car. You may have to remove the negative cable a few times then restart it for the CPU to go into the default settings.
