Question about 1993 Toyota Camry V6

Car running hot 1993 toyota camry. it has new engine head, new fan, midas did a radiator flush check to see if it was that. checked water pump said no its not the reason the thermator is not in the car could that be the reason its getting hot?

Check for fans ,if coming on put in new thermostat ,bleed system ,get out air from cooling system, could be coolant sensor or fan relay

You should have a thermostat in the engine. It allows the water flow to speed up or slow down as needed. Also, make sure your antifreeze is set for 20° BELOW zero.

Coolant level low, thermostat stuck closed, radiator fans failed, head gasket leak to coolant jacket

After checking the coolant level, look at the radiator fans when it is very hot to see if they operate.

If OK, have a mechanic do a simple check for combustion gases in the coolant, and a compression check on all cylinders. This is not expensive.

If OK, change the thermostat and flush the radiator.

Yes if it hydraulically operated it could be because the pump for the fan is bad. If I am not mistaken the fan is run off of the power steering pump correct. check and make sure the pump is working correctly. I have not seen a hydraulic motor on a car I know they put them on a lot of diesel trucks like humvees and some Chevy diesels but not on a car. Most are usually electrical. I know on humvees with a hydraulic fan they have a fan controller check this and make sure it is working right you can unplug the controller and the fan should stay ingaged and turn faster.

I HAVE A 93 TOYOTA CAMRY LE V6, THAT HAS A WATER PROBLEM, THE WATER KEEPS GETTING VERY HOT, ENGINE PUSHES THE WATER OUT TO THE COOLANT RESERVOIR, LEAVING MY RADIATOR DRY. I HAVE REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT AND...


These engines will overheat for many reasons. >>make sure there is no leaks at all, as air will cause the system to overheat while losing coolant at the same time. Depending if the radiator is original or after market, there may be TWO radiator caps (one on the engine and one on the radiator)- the one on the engine usually is faulty because of direct engine heat to the seal.>> On the thermostat housing, there is an O-ring at the end of the feeder pipe, usually leaks especially if the thermostat was replaced and not the O-ring. >>Check also the hydraulic driven radiator fan>>Check power steering fluid for proper levels first. unplug the switch atop the powersteering pump, start engine, rev to 2000 rpm (fan should increase in speed-you should hear it) if not it may be faulty.>> Check system for proper flow- With engine cold, remove the engine side radiator cap and rev the engine(1000rpm) slightly, notice if the coolant is flowing. If not, possible faulty pump, or clogged radiator. Hopefully this helps

Hi,

Firstly, ensure you have the required 'mixture' of coolant/water (must have required coolant).

Second, I would recommend you re-test all the cooling system sensors again (make sure they're within specifications), in case a new one is faulty.

Third, ensure the new thermostat was of the correct temp setting (they all differ), so that it opens at the required time. Most cooling systems operate within 90 - 100degC.

Fourth, make sure the radiator (and associated hoses) aren't blocked.

If your temp gauge is reading higher than normal, but NOT in the danger zone...then this can be considered normal (especially if you've replaced with new components) and nothing to be concerned about.

However, if the temp gauge IS in the danger zone....then this suggests the coolant is not flowing through the cooling system properly.

If all above components test ok, then it's possible your water pump may not be pumping enough volume.

the a/c when running creates a lot of extra heat and needs second fan, if second fan is not working right this will cause overheating, if fan is creating a load noise it is likely bearing is bad and will not spin as fast as it should not cooling. also check that fan it not hitting anything if you describe loud noise i can give better idea

If you've got the hydraulic fan, check to see that the solenoid at the power steering pump is plugged in. My 1993 3.0 had this happpen, and that's what was wrong. You have to pull the front passenger side wheel off to access the pump. Just stick your hand up in there and feel around. You'll find it. One way to check is to let the car idle and turn the a/c on full blast. You should hear the fan start to roar after a few seconds. If it doesn't, then check the solenoid wire. Worked for me!

it is motor oil toyotas are not made to run hot u have a blown head gasket it is also a good idea to replace ur timing belt while making the repair and flush ur radiator before runnning motor after repair
