Last oil change was synthetic oil. Had a mechanic top up my oil to hold me over until I can get my next change. He put in regular oil. A day and a half later my engine light has come on. Can this have...

The check engine light will not come on because of two different oils. The engine has no idea if your using synthetic or conventional. The best thing to to is see why the light has come on by scanning the computer for codes. Code readers have become relatively affordable. $50 will get you a decent one. Otherwise give your local parts store a call and see if they can scan it for you.

Once you know what code(s) are present it will be a lot easier to determine what the problem is.

Make sure your gas cap is tight and the oil cap is tight.

Engine lite on two codes p0440 p0522 what are

p0440-Evaporator Emissions Control Malfunction. P0522- Engine Oil pressure low. Replace the Gas cap and double check your engine oil level to make sure your not low. Reset the computer and see if the codes return. If your oil level is good when you check it you may have a problem with your oil pump.

Engine error lite P0465

Replacing the EGR valve, its actuator, or your DPFE sensor could all be at fault. I would probably start with the valve itself since it's an EGR leak code. Your gas cap was a wasted repair. The gas cap would cause a P0441 or 445 evap code, but not an EGR code.

the engine light needs to be scanned with a scan tool to pull a code, with that code you can start to diagnose, check your gas cap, make sure its tight, other than that you need to get it scanned before we can help you further

Suzuki forenza

I have had the same problem recently. I did some searching on the internet and came up with nothing. I went out to my car and decided to take a look at the gas cap. I noticed that after turning it and hearing the clicks that are supposed to tell you it is tight, the cap came off again with no effort at all. I brought the gas cap to Advance Auto Parts and I found out that the spring mechanism inside the top of the gas cap was worn from use. This was causing the vapors to leak out inturn causing the check engine light to come on. I bought a replacement STANT gas cap (specifically for the 2006 Suzuki Forenza) for $9 and the light has been off for the past two weeks. The dealer wanted $80 to diagnose the problem and then another $30 if they needed to order a gas cap. So, I decided $9 was better to waste then $110 trying to figure out the problem. I hope this helps.

If you disconnect your battery for 5-10 minutes this will most likely reset it. If it comes back on again, however, your computer is probably receiving a trouble code of some sort, and it would be worthwhile to bring it in to have the code read.
