After the car has been driven for a while I have to turn either the headlights or the fan off in order to have the speedometer work. And after more driving the speedometer won't work period.

I have the answer!
There are two clips that the cluster connects to. Those two clips have become worn. There are two ways to resolve this. 1. replace the clips. 2. (what I did) took a sparkplug box and cut it in 4 strips long wise and folded them in half. I then inserted those strips between the dash and the clip. This pushes clip forward and creates a stable connection.

Not sure exactly where the problem is but I can tell you that you have a bad ground somewhere. Check the ground circuits to the Instrument cluster.

Try replacing light bulbs and flasher which may correct the turn signals. Check all fuses, however as for the speedometer, the plastic clogs or wheels have run their course, If you intend to replace these, suggest you purchase a repair manual for your vehicle.
