Question about 1985 GMC Suburban
I can get it started by spraying carb cleaner into the carb ,but it will not stay running it dies right after its started is it the fuel pump or could it be something else?
Try replacing the fuel filter first and checking the fuse and relay to the fuel pump. You can get that information for Auto Zone where you can pick up the fuel filter too. Good luck and hope this helps. keep me posted, be glad to answer any questions you may have.

Check wires to fuel pump they run along the frame somewhat exposed for cracks or cuts
