Check your battery wires, wire to starter, and make sure it has a good ground.. high resistance can often cause a starter to not wanna start. does it start better at night or day? the what-cha-mu-call-it in the starter is going bad and will start when its not so hot. hope this helps

1997 Ford F150 5.4L V8 engine wont' start after new battery put in. Alternator or Starter?

If it jump starts, the starter is good.
You need to check the voltage at the battery with the engine running (after disconnecting jumper cables) to see if the alternator is bad. Voltage should be at least 14vdc.
You can also remove the alternator at home and have it tested at your local car parts store.Always disconnect the negative battery cable before removing the alternator.

Wont start. Battery and starter, and alternator test ok.

problem starter switch is next
jumping the terminals of the starter will turn the engine over but unless the ignition switch is working , there is no circuit for the spark so it will not start

If i take long distance maybe stop at the garage ma honda ballade 150i model 99 won't start until jumpstart by another car what could be the coz for that.

This could be a alternator that is not charging good or battery or starter or a bad wire or battery connection.

this is easy to figure out , first drive the distance you do and stop at a shop. then try to start car, if car does not start then have them first test the battery to see if it is low, then have them jump it and test alternator, if the battery is good and the alternator is putting out the correct amps then next check starter. if the starter is getting the 12.8 volts and the small wire is also getting the voltage with key in start postion then starter is bad, but with car not starting a shop will find the problem.

1985 nissan 300z wont crank

When you switch the ignition wont start or crank, right? but did you hear a tikiting sound? if you do then the problem was your starter, either the solenoid in your starter was faulty or the starter itself might be grounder or shorted.Replace the solenoid if deffective or starter but before you do that check your battery.
Next is to check your electrical line from the ignition to the starter and also from your battery going to the starter, if there is a connectivity it means your line is good.
Next you said it has to be push to start and run but when you shut it off it wont start? It means your alternator was not charging properly, so it was deffective, the battery lost its power. replace or repair your alternator.
Hope this will help you, good luck!!!

One time it will start and the next not, but if you wait for a bit and remove key and retry it will start, what would be the problem

Options are a couple things like faulty ignition switch... or neutral safety switch either out of alignment or going bad... what does the car do when you try to start it... because it could also be the charging system ... such as the battery not having enough voltage to start or a bad alternator not charging the battery. You need to ***** the situation and check everything step by step. starting with the battery. if you have a voltmeter, you can set to DC and put POS to + and NEG to - and if it reads 12.5V with the motor off then the battery is charged a dead battery will read 11.8V. Start the car and place the POS lead of the voltmeter to the POS terminal on the alternator (the big red cover) and ground the NEG lead and you should get a similar reading steadily... It should not drop ... if you get a low reading then the alternator is going bad and cannot charge the battery. Next check your starter underneath the car and put the POS to the big terminal going to the battery, It should read a similar voltage. To check that the starter solenoid has enough power you can run a wire with a switch direct from solenoid to switch to battery and try or you can put the POS to the spade connector end and the NEG to ground and have a helper turn the key to start to check for voltage (12V) if not then it suspect a faulty ignition switch... If when you try to start after ensuring a good charge and get a cluck noise with no start or start sometimes then your starter may be bad... If you get nothing at all and your lights and accesories work with 'bright' lights then your starter solenoid may be bad... If nothing happens and the lights dim then the ignition switch may be bad ... If you're not much of a DIYer you can take the car to your local autozone or advanced auto and they do a free alternator and battery check...If they are good then you can remove the starter and have them perform a bench test. Hope this helps... Good Luck.

Tried to start the 2003 Malibu, only get a relay clik. battery is new. after 2 or 3 starts, the starter goes to hell - have put two reman starters on. Auto parts check them when I bring back in and...

Hi, is it possible your starter is not disengaging from the flexplate? This could cause both the alternator and starter to fail. Pull the starter and check the return spring on the gear. If the spring is good, you may want to try putting a couple of shims in between the starter and transmission housing. It sounds like your current alternator is also failing if the battery light is on.

Check the CHARGiNG SYSTEM testing the alternator by using ur multimeter, test the output of the alternator by putting the multi tester to DC VOLT at 50 volt, the voltmeter must register a 13volt to 14 V! STARTER problem did you try hammering your starter just to free up the armature? try it, let somebody start ur ignition while u hammer down the starter! If that don't work, you have to bring it to ur mechanic, there might be some problem in the ARMATURE BRUSH and the SOLENOiD!

1999 chevy silverado 2500.6.0 l.if truck sits all week sometimes it rolls over slow and wont start.sometimes it will battery starter and alternator is good.if truck does roll slow then starts...

2 things come to mind, first check and clean all battery and starter connections. second, maybe you have something draining the battery. next time it rolls slow, put on a battery charger and see what happens. also, even though it is a new battery, it still could have a weak cell.
