Get a 4lb sledge hammer and wack the outer face of the drum in a criss cross pattern being careful not to hit too hard or hit lug nut studs, use some liquid wrench around the studs before hitting to dislodge rust bond

studs are multi-splined and are pressed in. Use a good size punch and heavy hammer and drive the broken studs out the back. New studs can be pulled into place using a spacer and a nut or knocked in with a punch and hammer
A combination of pull and hammer will probably be best.

To remove the broken stud use a punch and drive it out with a hammer back towards the backing plate. BY turning the axle around you will find a position or you may have to remove a brake shoe to help with the installation of the new stud. When you have it in place use larger nuts and pull it into place with the stud nut.. You may not be able to simply put the stud straight in but may have to start a bit of an angle and turn the axle to allow the stud to feed in.

Broken front wheel stud 2003 grand caravan

jack up vehicle, remove tire. knock out old stud with a hammer and punch. put new stud in from back if need be. to draw it up tight.use a lug nut with something under it so when you tighten the nut it brings the stud into position. remove the nut you put on. and replace the tire. good-day! if the brakes and rotor are in the way. you will have to remove them to replace the wheel stud.

How to get drum pads off a 2000 dodge caravan

The pad drums of your 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan can wear with use. Heat buildup in the brakes can glaze, warp or crack the drum. If that happens, replacement of the drum is the only way to fix it. In most cases, you can remove the rear drums, replace them with a new set and leave the existing shoes on the van. Take a minute and inspect the brake shoes thoroughly while you have the drums off the van.

  1. Loosen the lug nuts on the rear of your 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan with a lug wrench. Do not take them off the wheel studs.
  2. Raise the rear of the van with a jack and support it on a set of jack stands. Place the stands under the rear suspension, making sure they are secure. Remove the lug nuts from the wheel studs and pull off the rear wheels.
  3. Check the rear drum where the wheel studs come through for retaining clips. These are used during the manufacturing process; and if they are still on your van, they need to be removed. Pry the clip off the wheel stud with a flat head screwdriver and discard them. Most vehicles will have two clips on each brake drum.
  4. Grasp the brake drum on the outer edges and pull it straight off the wheel studs and brake pads. Discard the old drum and slide the new drum into place, aligning the holes in the drum with the wheel studs. Push the drum in until it seats completely. Repeat the process on the opposite side of the van.
  5. Position the wheel back on the wheel studs and install the lug nuts by hand. Raise the back of the van with a jack and remove the jack stands from under the suspension. Lower the van to the ground and tighten the lug nuts with a lug wrench.

2000 Dodge Caravan....broken wheel studs...

Yeah , it's a fairly simple repair, All the wheel studs must be replaced and lug nuts also.Closely examine the wheel or get competent tyre replacement company to double check for damage ! Remove the brake disc caliper and brake disc itself (usually 2 cross head screws) , tap off (gently) it may be stuck thru corrosion / rust etc , Broken studs can be knocked out(towards drive shaft ) of the hub assy with a suitable drift and hammer (splined into hub) . The studs are a servicable replacement part. Check all other wheel nuts as this is usually a result from poor fixing or wheel replacement recently .. Good luck

Replacing rear lugs

There are 4 bolts holding the wheel bearing/ABS sensor Assembly to the axle housing. Remove them and remove the wheel bearing from the car. You will be able to rotate the spindle and remove the lug studs. To replace them put it in the hole and tighten a lug nut to pull it into place(an impact wrench will be quite helpful). No Hammering it in, as it may dammage the sensor or bearing.
