I agree with you, I purchased the car used and when I bought it the guy told me I have to have the cruise control switch on to start it...and low and behold you do. I have no clue what that has to do with the starter other than maybe ther is some sort of ground? I do not even know where to start.

I've been in the Navy 16 years, driving submarines, and have never seen may electrical problems....but have never seen this sort of electrical issue before.

I don't understand what the cruise control has to do with starting the car, it should have nothing to do with starting.

I think that is a anti theft system for your car

to start you have to push the cruise button

other system are wired on the defrost to start car

if the car run ok it is just a anti theft system

The switch on the cruise control on a 93 Honda Accord turns on and off but doesn't engage, can someone help me get it to engage??

I had the same problem. When I tried to engage the cruise control, the cruse control light flashed and the cruise control did not work. I also noticed that this happens more often when the outside temperatures are low (below 5 deg. C). The problem was in the brake switch. The switch is positioned at the brake pedal. On Accord 2003 it can be very easily removed by anti-clockwise rotation of the switch. You can replace the switch with a new one or you can clean the contacts of the old one, since the switch can be dismantled very easily.

The cheapest place to start is to replace all of the vacuum lines. If they are old, dried out, and cracked, that might be your problem.

The cruise control on my 1993 Honda Accord LX, automatic 4 cylinder works sometimes and sometimes not. It worked three days ago. It wouldn't work the next day. The following day it would. Now it won't...

Sounds like possibly a safety switch associated with the brake or shifter is engaging intermittently. There is definitely one behind the brake because when you apply the brake the cruise kicks out. Try looking for this switch and check it out.

Cruse controll

Pull up on the brake pedal. If that does not work check your brake light bulbs (LED brake lights will also keep your cruise control form working). Finally check all of the fuses. This system needs at least 3 different fuses to work properly.

There are three switches that must be on in order for the cruise to work. There is the main switch on the dash, there is a switch on the shift lever, and there is a switch on the brake pedal. The next time the cruise does not work, first pull the brake pedal up with your foot and try to set it again. If that does not work, try wiggling the shift lever. This may be a good place to start. My bet is with the brake switch. If that is the problem, it needs a minor adjustment and an easy fix.
