the pin i am concerned with, is the pin the spring rides against with the roller at the bottom of it. the old pin looks as though it might have a cap on the top of it but also does not look like i can just drive it out with a punch. the new pin is shaped a bit differently but is the correct length, however it does not have a cap on top of it.

First you need to get the right tools for the job and the right parts to fix the problem. There is a hinge pin in both the upper and lower hinges and four brass bushings and there is two different size bushings in each hinge and also two hinge pin retaining washers. As for the tools, you need a spring compressor, jack, hammer, punch. First, open the door all the way and put jack under door. I like to use a 2-by-4 board on top of the jack to help spread the weight of the door out a little. Next, if the door has a wiring harness in the jamb loosen the rubber insulation form both the door and the body. This gives a couple of inches of slack in the wiring. Next use the spring compressor to remove the spring, then use the punch and hammer to drive out the pins. It is very hard to get them to move at first but gets easier as they start to move. I would recommend having a helper to hold the door upright as it will fall when the pin is removed from the hinge. Once the pins are out move the door and jack away from the body, to gain more access room the replace the bushings: two in the door side and two in the body side. Then slide door and jack back and align hinge holes and install new pins. I always grease the bushing and pins before installing. Drive the new pins all the way flush with the hinge and install the retainers. Reinstall the spring and reattach the wiring insulation.

Hope this helps

  • With the weight of the door is supported.
  • Pry out door spring.
  • Using a hammer and a punch pound out old pins.
  • Also remove old bushings and new bushings are installed.
  • New pins are driven into place using a hammer and punch.
  • The door spring is replaced using a spring compressor or try vise grips.
  • Make sure you put the correct bushing in the correct place. the top hinge has large hole at top and the bottom has large hole at the bottom.
  • Hope this help you, they take some pounding to get out if they are rusted.

How to remove door bushings

The only door bushings I am aware of are the ones on the hinge pins. Correct? If not, please clarify what you mean.
New pins come with new bushings, and the hinges are welded on so the pins are pretty much the only items replaceable. Not a fun job - because of the door stop springs you will need a spring compressor, and you will also need a special tool to drive out the old pins. However, both are available from a parts store or Amazon.
Just open the door and support it from the bottom, and then go for it, one pin at a time - for the upper pin, compress and remove the small spring, drive out the old pin, drive in the new pin and put the spring back. No spring on the bottom hinge - just replace the pin.

I have a 1998 Dodge Avenger with a 2.0 (4cyl). Does anyone know of any tricks to remove the passenger side motor mount to engine bolts without removing the engine from the car ????

Put the car on stands and put a jack within a few inches of the under side of the engine. Loosen the bolt mounts by about have a turn. Have a friend use a length of timber and use jack top as a lever fulcrum to take the weight of the engine off the mount whilst you remove the mounting bolts. Take care not to put any load on the oil pan as it can crush quite easily. You should be able to adjust the engine attitude about two inches without having to detach anything, this is enough room to get the old mount out and therefore the new one in. Take your time and keep safe

How do i change the headlight bulb on a daewoo kalos ?

QUITE EASY, REAR OF HEADLIGHT IS A RUBBER CAP OR COVER, THIS JUST PULLS OFF,AFTER REMOVING THE LIGHT WIRING PLUG, .REVEALING THE CLIP WHICH HOLDS THE LIGHT BULB INPLACE. LIFT UP THE SPRING BY JUST SQUEEZING WHICH UNHOOKS THE SPRING FROM ITS HOLDER, REMOVE THE OLD BULB AND REPLACE WITH A NEW ONE. IT WILL ONLY FIT ONE WAY AS THE LOCATING PINS ARE IN DIFFERENT POSITIONS, REPLACE THE HOLDING CLIP AND THEN THE RUBBER CAP FINALLY REPLACE THE WIRING PLUG TO BACK OF LIGHT BULB.
EASY.........
