1984 E-350 Transmission puzzling leak

Went out for the weekend with our 1984 Ford Travelaire Motorhome. Which is just an econoline 350. Arrived out our destination which was about 2 hours away and noticed that the transmission was leaking oil pretty bad. It was coming out of the inspection hole by the flywheel. Added about 3 liters of oil and brought it back up to normal level. Let it idle for awhile and then checked it again. Color was good and no bad smell so just left it alone fix it when we get home. On the way home it was about the same temperature outside and drove just as hard if not a little more because it was up hill more. It didnt leak a drop but now the oil is brown and burnt smell. First thought was front seal blown but now i dont know... any ideas would be greatly appreaticiated!

SOURCE: I have a 1984 Ford

When you flip the switch it basically switches the power to both the sender and the fuel pump. So either something is wrong in the switch or the wiring to the second tank (most likely the connectors) are damaged or corroded. Check the switch first by simply swapping the connections between themselves: if now the first tank has problems it's the switch, if the second tank is still to blame then it's the wiring.

SOURCE: jerking automatic transmission

Hi Brotty, You know the transmission is leaking from one of the seals and that when you top up the ATF the problem goes away. You obviously have a leakage otherwise you would not need to keep topping up. Fix the leakage or have it fixed. Regards John
