Hi, we have a Hyundai Getz GSI 52, 5 door. I cant work out if there's a passanger airbag or not. It says 'airbag' on the dashboard but theres no marking on it to show where an airbag would be. Can you clarify please? I need to know so I can fit a front child seat. Thanks

Yes!!! You can replace it yourself.(Dont let others fool you into paying extra or telling you otherwise.)
-This is for pontiac grand ams 1999-2005 only.
-There are no frontal airbag impact sensors nor are there belt tensioners.
-The SRS system consists of only the (driver airbag) ,(passanger airbag),and the (airbag control module) in 1999-2005 grand ams.
If you crash/wrecked and airbags deployed you will need.
-Driver and Passanger airbags
-Airbag control module
You can buy cheap airbags from a local junkyard any year from 1999-2005 will fit.
You can also find an airbag control module for cheap at your local junk yard BUT YOU MUST FIND ONE WITH THE SAME (PART NO.) AND (SERV NO.) AS THE ONE YOUR REPLACING.The (part no.) and (serv no.) should be at top left of airbag control module. However it does (Not) have to match numbers under barcode or the numbers at the far bottom right of airbag control module.
After you get both airbags and airbag module
-Disconnect car Battery
-Replace airbag module (under passanger seat)
-Double check all connections and connect battery.
Congradulations!Your airbags should be back online.
Notes: Two torx 35 head screws hold the driver airbag, access is through two holes behind steering column.
To remove passanger airbag you have to remove glovebox it uses (7mm)screws.After you remove you will see a pair of (10mm)screws holding airbag.
To remove airbag control module First remove passanger seat 2(15mm).Then after removing you will notice a raises area kinda like a vertical bump.Take a razor blade to your carpet and cut it to explose the module underneath.
The airbag module is held by three screws depending on the year of your car it varies. Most likely 3 (10mm).
you will need to go to an airbag certified place, if the system is not wired correctly then you will have no air bags or false deployment, this is not as simple as pulling a wire , the system will be wired with a switch to turn off the pass/side airbag or turn on , the system will be rewired for a switch to the airbag in a way so that the system works and other airbags deploy in a crash, i would have the dealer do this.
It's never a great idea to dis connect any safety feature on a vehicle. But should you wish to do so here are two possible options. BMW may have a key operated switch (usually ignition) to disarm the passanger side airbag (usually in the case of rear facing child seat being fitted) OR if you manually disconnect the airbag (NOT reccommended) you will have to insert a resistance into the passanger bag circuit of equivelant to the air bag that was removed. In order to maintain the self diagnosis check system.
hi there should be a lock barrel somewhere in the front of the carit will be eithe rin the glove box, on the side of the dashboard on the passanger side, in the center console near the handbrake or to the lower right of thr steering wheel on the dashboard
with this you can use your car key to turn off the passanger air bag off (note- this will put the airbag light on)
The mechanism is located behind the plastic cover on the door side. You'll need to remove this trim piece to get at it. It's held on by screws. When you get to the mechanism it is held on by a torx bolt. Good luck
