There probably isn't a manual since this is supposed to be done by A/C certified mechanic. The freon is hooked to guages. A high and low end and are connected to the ports on the rail. Red cap is for high pressure. You can go to autozone.com and register for free. It is a full free online repair manual

My 98 chevy silverado will not take freeon what do i do

Most likely the Schrader valve is jammed and you will need to change it. It is looks like a inter tube valve an is located where you are trying to attach the Freon to feed the system. Take a small screw driver and see if the valve moves down when you push on it and if it sprays Freon out. Be sure you are not overfilling the system.

We replaced the compressor and cooling radiator under the dash. Now it cools but not enough. Mechanic put in more freon, but it didn't help.

spray cold water on front condensor (rad) to see if this helps
would need to know what pressure are hi and low and cycles of comressors are
to much freon could overload the system and make it run warmer draw out
and put recomended amount in is air flow out at duct proper could have cabin filter
pluged up or blend door not working (sealing properly)

Converting the r12 system

To convert from r12 to r134a freon, you first need to have the r12 discharged into a recovery system by a licensed professional. It is a violation of federal law in addition to environmentally irresponsible to vent this gas to the atmosphere. Next, remove the drier from the a/c system and use a spray can of a/c system flushing solvent to flush the oil r12 refrigerant and lubricating oil from the system by spraying into one of the liberated hose ends and placing a catch bucket under the other hose end.
You will need to purchase and install a set of adapters for the high and low side access valves by simply screwing them tightly and securely on top of your old r12 valves which are already in place.
After cleaning the system, replace the drier with a new one and reassemble the system. Evacuate the system to a sufficiently low pressure using an HVAC vacuum pump and then add the recommended amount of r134a freon and lubricating oil to the system through the charging hose on your combination manifold gauge set. Assuming of course that you didn't have leaks in the system before you began the conversion, you should now be good to go!
Good luck, and Stay Cool!

When i turn on my air conditioner in my 1999 durango it blows out hot air. can i put in antifreeze myself or do i need to take to the dealership?

Antifreeze is only for the radiator, does not affect the air conditioner, make sure you have the setting on cold, if it is still hot than take it to your local air conditioner re gas station, most auto electricians do it, dealerships usually send them out which you end up paying extra for!!! You just need a re gas in your air conditioner.

1997 ford explorer needs air cond. freon

looking at your engine, you should have two caps on the passenger side of the car, fairly easy to see..

check that, and it will show you what I mean :). make sure you use the right tip, as their are diffrent sizes, and you dont want to spray yourself, that would not be a good idea.

Rear A/C Not getting Cool

The first thing that you will need to know is if the system is charged(with freon) to the proper level. The reason for this is if the system is not completely charged, then the rear a/c will be the first not to work properly. The next thing you need to do is follow the a/c lines all the way to the rear of the vehicle. You may need to remove one of the rear interior panels for the next step. Here you will need to follow the A/c line to a little box or valve, this is called an expansion valve. The expansion valve is actually what sprays the freon into the evaporator, and creates the cold. If the line in between the valve and the evaporator os not cold, then you will need to replace the expansion valve. To do this you will need to remove the freon before you replace the valve. This is a common problem, because the valve contains a small screen that will stop up with trash and will restrick freon from flowing into the evaporator. Let me know if you need any further help.
