SOURCE: clicking or ticking when engine is running
Sorry to state the obvious but the problem is directly connected to the speed of either: The engine; or your MPH. It could be something on a belt that is snagging, or most likely a piece of rubber that is being abused. If you know that neither of these suggestions are not the problem then I would think that it's the alternator. Start you car and pop the hood to see if you can locate the noise. The Alternator is easy to fix by yourself. I have a friend who is mechanically inept and even he was able to replace it. could also be the fan. try to narrow it down geographically with your ears and that should leave you with much smaller sum of variables.
Good Luck

SOURCE: no reverse on automatic transmission.what could be
internal problem. Depends on the trans. I have seen broken parts, blown seals, or fried clutch plates. If it was suddenly gone, then I would expect a break in a part - perhaps a broken weld
SOURCE: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix Knocking Noise - Drive Train?
if it only knocks or clunks puting in gear or gettingonit I would check motor & trans mount both upper dog bone & cross bars to core support
SOURCE: rear drivetrain noise whine getting louder and louder
if it is the gears in the diff,it is pricey.
since most trucks get overloaded and this is the result, that is why the rule is 25% and lifespan is reduced by 50%
overload 50% and it is 200%
