Question about 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck 2WD
OK so the truck was working fine let it sit for some time then went to start and would not start. tried to jump start took a while to get it started but did get it to fire up. let it run for a little while to try and charge up the batt. turned off the truck to see if it would start again but it did not. jumped started it again and it started let it run again and it shut off on its own and have not been able to restart I have not tried since to jump again.. When I tried to start it it just click click click's it doesnt turn over im guessing its just the batt is too low? I have read that when the batt goes low or dies that the computer needs to be reset. is this true? if so i heard 2 diff ways #1disconect the poss. cable for 2 mins then reconnect. #2 disconnect both poss and neg and touch them together for 2 mins and this will restart the computer? will any of these do the job?? please please PLEASE help!!!
I also heard that you should not jump start these trucks?? is this true??
1st is the batt. old? second it could be the batt. cable ends when you jumped it the jumping vehicle made a connection the third poss able option is the starter
however if the batt. is old and bad it will make the computer scramble and fail to fire up even if it rolls over, disconnect batt for 2 min. jumping will not hurt it iether as long you are doing it in a safe way
